Hey all, I’ve made this thread to start showcasing things I will work on in the future and I want to share my current project.

I’ve been working on updating the Raiders’ Indy. First things first, was the headsculpt. I had a Trevor Grove SS head painted by Greggo back in the day. A nice job from both artists but so many sculpts have come out and have disappeared from the market, or had gone out of my price range. I needed an update, but my options were limited. So, I bought the Space Tracker Han, got my old medicom hat and got to work!

As well as this sculpt/hat mod, I’ve also been working on a holster for him. I’ve made a few prototypes, this is the last one. I’m using magnetic closure and it’s now working the way I wanted, I think.

So, because things are getting more expensive and because mailing things is kinda crazy right now, I decided I was going to try and paint my own 1/6 heads. I’m going to post my progress as a painter here and hopefully one day, y’all will see me grow into a pro.
I’ve had 3 attempts so far, each one improving I think. The first and second attempts were made on an Adam Gu Christian Bale sculpt. The 3rd on Daniel Craig. The DC was my first attempt at eyes because I was waiting on paints. Think they came out pretty good.

Hope y’all enjoy.

Thanks to the couple of y’all that stopped in. I nodded the head to fit the muscle body and I like the proportions. A nice surprise for a practice head

Sullivan from uncharted? but he doesn't have that patch of hair under his lip. haha. I like your Indy work!!!
That’s a good guess and now that I see it, this sculpt would be a great Sully! I’m hoping to turn this thing into Dutch Van Der Linde

Nice work Rogster. I don't think there is anything more satisfying than knowing that the customs on your shelves were all painted by yourself. It can be infuriating at times and when you start off it always looks bad but with a bit of patience I have found you can get to a decent level.

Great work on that Dutch.

Wow thanks a lot man! Made my day ??

You're welcome. I read that you had made a painting thread on Sideshow but couldn't find it!

What are you using to make the eyes shine? I use Vallejo Gloss Varnish but most gloss varnishes seem to work ok. I always do the eyes in stages so that if I mess it up (guaranteed everytime!) I dont have to start over.

Also how do you find adding clay onto sculpts? I find it quite tricky to get it to blend in totally so that you can't notice it after you paint it. You seem to have got it spot on with Dutch there.

Please keep making posts. I am always looking for ways to try and improve my own painting!

I definitely plan on posting more. I just haven’t had much of anything to practice on as of lately. I appreciate the kind words!
For the eyes I use the same varnish as you, actually. They are tricky, but I like my progress so far. Admittedly, it’s better than what I thought I could do.
I just did a that re sculpt with Sculpey, it’s not as seamless as you may think, but thank you. I think there’s a fair resemblance to Dutch.

Check it out Rogster. This was my first ever attempt at painting a 1/6 scale head!

It was from a few years ago and it was horrendous. It was a head that I got on a spare body and I thought it bore a resemblance to the character of FBI Special Agent Francis York Morgan from Deadly Premonition so I decided to try and paint it. I forgot all about it until recently when I found it again and repainted it.
