A group of us commissioned a 66 Batman Caesar Romero Joker just shy of three years ago. Yeah, three years. The project lead commissioned IRIS to do the clothing. Yes, we know covid, personal issues etc. However, as I post this, we've heard next to nothing from her and seen even less. A swatch of clothing. That's it. She is non responsive to our request for a refund. In the spirit of looking out for other collectors, I just thought I'd let everyone know so they don't flush money like we did.

Exactly, please be aware of the situation and be leery of putting your money up front.

I agree that we should probably start to stay away from IRIS. I'm on the LaLa Land IRIS project and it has been 2 years with only "I will start soon" type messages to the project host. Otherwise, she goes silent on the host. We haven't even gotten any swatches, samples, etc.

Unfortunately for your project, looks like the host (Jeff Vargas) also dipped out and isn't responding along with no updates from Iris, so it's a double whammy of no communication for you guys.

He put money down as well, so he's in the same boat. I don't know what's going on with his not replying

That's the same crap she's given us as well.

At very least, Jeff should be on here communicating with us. If he is trying to contact Iris, he should be sharing that with us. Running and hiding is not the answer.

I mean, just b/c he said he put money down, does anyone really know if he actually did? I wouldn't normally want to insinuate anything but given how quiet he's been, one has to wonder if IRIS did get all the money for the run? Given that other IRIS projects have still been going (although slow, they're going like a John Wick project with her as the tailor), you have to wonder if there is more going on here.

One does wonder. I've just told myself I've lost $150 and if I get it back it's a bonus. One thing is certain, I'll NEVER do a custom again

That’s what sucks about these things. I do not blame the host at all for the IRIS Seb project, since IRIS has all of the leverage. There’s no accountability on their end, they’re one of the big names in 1/6 tailoring and they’re gonna continue to get booked even when they’re at least 2 years behind on projects. There’s not much the host can do to get the project moving along beyond pester them for “updates”. Anything more aggressive would likely just get the project dropped.

This is why we need to get in contact with Iris. We need to find out if she did receive the payment? Did she start the project? What is the status? With all of the business this site has given her over all these years, I am very surprised this has happened. As far as I know, she has never taken money and ditched a project. We need more information.

I agree. The tailors definitely end up having all the leverage to the point that we’re always at their mercy, including the project host if they’ve held up their end with actually giving the funds to the tailor.

I don’t typically mind waiting as long as we’re getting some updates here and there; but, when it’s been years and nothing but empty promises and fake dates or just straight up silence, you can’t help but question the legitimacy of the artist involved and/or potentially even the host

Somewhere in the thread Jeff posted IM's from her, and she showed a swatch of cloth, then said it was too think or something like that and that she'd have to find other cloth. That's about as concrete a post as we've had and makes me think she at least did a little something to start the project

I remember that post, and always wondered if that was something meant to keep us in check.

Just keeping everyone up to date. After many attempts, IRIS finally responded to emails and askedfor "one more week". We allowed two, and never heard a thing back from her. I'd stay far away if you don't won't to lose your money.

I can verify this as she sent me the exact same response. Unfortunately she cannot be trusted with payments in advance. My advice is to stay away from doing business with her.

What does the clothing consist of that she is suppose to make? I'm just curious as to how things are done? And do you provide a figure for the seamstress to fit the design to?
