The main contradiction of the movie is shown in the sharpest way-The war, which is the conflict between the old and the new forces. The old forces Bushido were "stubborn", but charming. When the Industrial revolution ruthlessly crushed Bushido with the name of political progress, a "new" man, a captain from the United States, was attracted by this dying spirit.
