I’m in the same boat; a little out of my price range at the moment. Will definitely keep an eye on the thread to see where this gets to.

I really hope I can help... I'm a HUGE Jaws fan, especially Quint.

He wears really faded black pants, that look charcoal grey. Some say he switches pants somewhere in the movie from a pair of brown ones he wears while fishing. They are jean cut but not true jeans. More like Dockers with jean-style pockets. Maybe Ben Davis work pants or Frisko Jeens.
