It makes sense in a lot of ways they pioneered a custom business model that has changed a lot over the last 5 years or so.

I’m sure Lee will be lending us his massive talent for many years to come on his own or with other collaborators.

Yea I wouldn’t really see this as a sad piece of news, just a transition into a new business model. Methods of selling and online storefronts come and go, but talent always stays.

I was surprised too that this received very little attention. it seems that many who were on the RM bandwagon years ago have faded away. And, since we have not heard of any new projects in such a long time, I was wondering if this was nearing the end. Lee is too talented to not be heard from again.

And Also "RIP" and there first post about "saddest news ever" made me think he died before I read the letter.

Which is not really cool and I know that was not the intent of OP but it could also be why people read it and say "Oh thank god ok whatever" and not care to comment because it really isn't that big a deal.

Lee can still do collar projects with Yunsil here if he wants and get Joe blow one of us to handle the logistics;

The dissolution of business partnership's happen every day. It doesn't necessarily follow that this (by itself) will inhibit him from offering his artwork for sale, independently. In fact, it could free him to offer pieces via different avenues, as and when he sees fit, without having to answer to anyone else (which may be a massive relief if the person he used to refer to as his 'boss' was a ball-breaker). The recent Annabelle figure he offered up outside the usual 'Artmaze' site being an example. Whatever he choses to do next, he's already left one hell of a legacy.

Like others here, this isn't a huge shock to me. Rainman kept innovating and doing amazing stuff, but his deadlines slipped more and more over the last few years, and the novelty wore off a bit as dozens of boardies here were able to commission projects with Yunsil on their own. But Rainman's ability to handle small scale, detailed accessories is second to none apart from Robbiethepainter, and because of him I have a Lebowski figure that could never be rivaled. I do hope he stays involved at some level. This is an end of an era in some ways.

It could be a good thing. I missed the first releases spirit. In the end, it was too many figures every year, too many people wanting to buy and sell after receiving it, prices were a bit crazy. I lost interest after the Dracula set due to strange choices of characters.

Also they wanted to declare the real value to customs? How could it work? For me, this was the very moment Rainman Artwork died.

Now I hope Lee will still be around. I'm happy with most of his figures and he is incredibly talented. If not, he will be missed for sure.
