Who wants Hudson??

So. . .Hudson.

He's one of the most memorable characters from one of the greatest movies of all times. The Ultimate Badass©! And he has a figure! Even if it's an old figure, it's pretty great. Except the sculpt. There have been custom attempts, but, no offense to the original sculptors of those attempts, I think it's time for someone else to give it the old college try. Plus, I'm not sure any of those older sculpts are still available anywhere anyway. I'm hoping that this thread will demonstrate one of two things:

1) We want some Hudson custom sculpts comin outta the goddamn walls, so that some talented sculptor will decide it's worth their time to take this on.

or

2) Oh dear Lord Jesus, this ain't happening, man... This can't be happening, man! This isn't happening!

If the latter, I'll just give it up, learn to sculpt (LOL) or maybe try to commission someone to do it on my own one day.

WGP do fantastic work, and are doing some Aliens characters already, so this would fit right in line. But there are scores of other talented folks out there as well, and I would love to see how some of the artists around here would interpret this guy. The more the merrier! Let everyone do one! He's got so many awesome, wacky expressions!

So, if you want someone to tackle Hudson anew, post it, I'll compile a list, and folks will know that there's a market for this. :rock

I love Hudson, just watched Aliens again, one of my favorite movies of all time.
Great Action, lines, characters and I love the Hell outta Hudson, Vasquez and Drake.

I think any customizer ambitious enough to go after a full figure could definitely find some support here if they wanted to give it a go. Even those who have the HT one know, of course, that it is rife with inaccuracies. Though that would be a SERIOUS project! And really, any full figure custom (even with a custom head added on) is gonna cost a lot more than buying a stock version on the secondary market, I would wager. So that's something to keep in mind.

But I figure a sculpt alone will be an easy sell because so many folks already have the armor and can accept those flaws, but can't accept some random dude wearing Hudson's duds!

And I should say that sculpts from D are alway pretty nice. Maybe let's ask him first, before starting up the new expensive project and ruin his work?

Anyway, I've got few suggestions:
1) We need Hudson with neck to fit non-muscular TT HT bodies. Really, I don't need this head without whole sculpted neck.
2) I would like to avoid whining or panic Husdon.

I agree that Darren's version looks great so far, but will it ever be released? Isn't he working on it for 2-3 years by now?

I also second an alert or attentive expression, I want a badass Hudson on my shelf, not a scared or panicky one. :lol
I'm currently using a muscular TT on my Hudson, but I wouldn't mind a sculpt with neck, I can easily remove the neck afterwards.

Yeah, the Carnell would be great, but it's been last May since he updated his site, and I don't think any other sculpt has to take anything away from whatever he comes up with (assuming he'll even offer it up for sale). "Let a thousand flowers bloom!" Snyder-Man also said their crew was doing a Hudson, but that was a while back as well. This just seems like the one Aliens figure released by HT that, to me, never really got a sculpt that really captured the actor's likeness. There are fantastic Hicks sculpts from various sources, some great Ripleys, a couple nice Apones, and I think the Drake and Vasquez stock sculpts are fine. But Hudson is my favorite character and just doesn't have it.

Personally, I would prefer a sculpt with neck, and as for expression, I'm cool with just about anything if the likeness is there. But if I had my druthers, I would probably go with the panicky "whatarewegonnado???" look :lol

agonistes86, I've got your point of view about the neck and happy that you've got mine. I'm one of those 1/6 collectors who doesn't like to see joints on their figures and the Hudson is really great in it, coz the bandage hides his left elbow and his right sleeve is lowed. That's why I would like to get him with neck. Just saying to make my argument clear.

karamazov80, the best way to get any info from Darren is to write him. I've got pretty good terms with him, so maybe I should show him this thread and ask what he thinks about it?

And I'm agree. Since it's a really good Hudson - I almost don't care about an expression. YES, it's good to get bada$$ Hudson, but let's face the truth: he's a whimperer. And this expression looks pretty close to him. Little bit whine, little bit desperate, little bit ready to action.

And I would also like to have a couple of sculpts to switch out, one with a more traditional stern or angry look, and one where he's whimpering/freaked out.
