If it’s easier than I’m in favor of a completely screen accurate boot. In my opinion, even if an element isn’t necessarily visible it still matters to me for it to be as accurate as possible when going the custom route. I’m interested in others thoughts on this as am fine doing what the majority are in favor of. Thanks!

Sounds good.

I went a different route with these in terms of production. Instead of using sculpey I'm using Milliput. It's a polymer that hardens in several hours. So its cool because i can sculpt it when it is soft, then let it harden and Dremel fine details. So I actually Dremeled all the scales into the surface and it turned out just as I had hoped.

So if necessary I'm just going to dremel down the sculpted creases and then start adding the details.

I agree with playlandtoys, I also think that it’s better to make the boots completely movie accurate.Even with the top of the boot I would like to have some details like the real one!Looking forward to see your final results!

I also had one person complain that the scales are too large. Thoughts? I personally think they're ok but wanted to see what people thought.

I think the scale sizing is okay, but could be shrunk down by a small amount to be more screen accurate. The big issue I’ve noticed when comparing to reference boots is the back heel could be higher and the arch and front heel sizes could be reduced. In addition, the front of the shoe needs to be more extended and finer point added to the front of the boot. Right now, the front of the boot looks too short and fat, I think a more extended front would sharpen the end point and provide the correct shape for this style of boot. Here is a photo comparing Doc’s work-in-progress to the reference boot. What are everyone’s thoughts on these suggestions?

Agreed. Though we may have to wait until the new site opening up before we get much in the way of opinions. Either way yes, I am looking for any and all input!

Hey all I just wanted to post an update on here. I AM still working on the boots they've just hit the backburner a bit as I finish Forrest Gump. Hopefully I can have some updates in the not too distant future.

Ok so i scrapped the entire previous boot because i decided it wasn't great and i wanted to do it differently.

So, yes, this is VERY early, but i wanted to show off the new, more pointed toe, and the more pronounced heell rake. Im also working in just getting the general boot shape done so i can stay all the tiny details.

It may not look like much but i did a lot of tweaking to the general form. Once i have them symmetrical I'll smooth out the surface and work on the details.
