The Prestige (2006) - Robert Angier (Hugh Jackman)
"You never understood why we did this. The audience knows the truth: the world is simple. It's miserable, solid all the way through. But if you could fool them, even for a second, then you can make them wonder, and then you... then you got to see something really special. You really don't know? It was... it was the look on their faces..."
The Prestige is one of Christopher Nolan's most classic movies. I have always longed to make a Robert Angier custom since this is such an untapped territory in the 1/6th world.
The story takes place in Victorian London, and Hugh as Robert has worn many stylish outfits in this film.
There are so many choices (most have patterns Yunsil cannot do or are too costly) but we've settled on the 'transported man' trick outfit.
One of my favourite scenes is when Robert first performed the 'Transported Man' trick successfully with the help of his doppelganger.
However, he could only enjoy the applause under the stage because magicians do not reveal their secrets.
This is Robert Angier's career at his peak and also his downhill. Soon his reputation was destroyed by Alfred (Christian Bale) in one of his performances.
After this incident, he sacrificed everything in his life to regain both his self-esteem and fame.
We hope to do this character justice so we will do our best with the sculpture. We will be working with a well-known digital sculptor (who I cannot reveal at this stage).
The final product will have clay details and cast in resin just as we did to the Interstellar Matthew head.
