Personally I'm not a supporter of KO's, but MOMTOYS are releasing that Godfather kit so those who don't have the official HT could get that to pair with this

The HT Godfather is one of those peculiar figures for me. On one hand, it's so iconic that I almost think, even with the prices as they are now, it would be worth it, but, at the same time, there's always that lingering thought in my head that, if I ever made that leap, the second I received it, they'd announce a 2.0 for a hell of a lot less.:lol

I'm seriously baffled by why they haven't already. The fact that it's going for over $1K in a lot of instances and how it's being recast like crazy makes me think that Howard is seriously missing the boat. How much R&D would you need? Maybe tailor a new tux, add his trench coat and a bag of oranges as a little something extra to differentiate the two, and bang! Money in the bank!

The 2.0 thing is a definite concern nowadays :lol. This year has shown that words like "limited collectible" are vanishing from HT vocabulary. You really roll the dice when paying secondary market prices on some of these characters. And this Godfather KO shows that if HT doesn't make a 2.0, then there might just be a small producer to come and offer up a recast/bootleg set.

The simplest and most likely explanation is that they no longer have the license.

It's only being listed at a high price because there are few that exist. It's not like there are hundreds out there selling for $1000. For HT to re-make it, they would need to sell thousands to make it worth their while. It would take a production slot from something that would be far more lucrative, like Star Wars or Marvel. It's the opportunity cost. It just doesn't make sense for them to re-do it. People would only buy it now because they think it will be the next big thing, and fetch high prices, but 6 months later, Sideshow will be offering it with free shipping and double rewards points, just like every other HT figure.

All very true and you're comment about Sideshow's sales is something that's been really curious lately. Is this a sign of HT's over production backfiring or are they mainly getting backed up because of this influx of less popular characters (and popular characters that didn't hit the mark i.e. Banner, Widow, Loki, etc.). Probably a mix of both
