A few people I've talked to share that sentiment and while I did not think American Hustle broke ground what I enjoyed about it was it was a tight, concise very well preformed story with a few nice surprises along the way. It's not that it was something I've never seen before its that it was a highly enjoyable very well made movie in a time where 90 percent of the movies nowadays are utterly lame.
The Wolf of Wall Street had a couple nice performances also, well mostly just Leo but he was great and surprisingly the pornstar looking trophy wife was solid too as far as performances go. Jonah Hill was just Jonah Hill but I enjoyed his comic relief in places.
Man I really wish the 1/6 revolution was happening much longer ago, it seems flavor of the week things nowadays gets nods to be made all the time. And hey I'm all for whatever, one of the great things about the hobby is the ability to have virtually any character you want. But there's a lot of my favorites that I find surprisingly strange that there are not figures of, that had there been 1/6 custom figures at the time of the films they would have been made.
For example, if this film was Aviator and WOSW came out when Aviator did instead, someone would be lobbying for Howard Hughes. But who has thought of that movie at all in years? It's not that it wasn't decent, it was decent but in a few years no one will remember WOWS either.
Truth be told I kind of feel that way about inception too... not that it wasn't a decent movie and a lot of people still hold it in high regard but it's not exactly a figure kind of movie. I have not seen one posting about an inception custom, or threads about commissions, or HT petitions in years. AKA flavor of the week is over and now no one cares.
IMO in principal, WOWS is not really worthy of a figure but who's to say what's "worthy"? At the end of the day it's all good. It matters what you want as a collector and that's empowering. We're lucky to be able to have so many options nowaways.
