Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

Again no one answered me .... possibly each will have to provide their own clothes.
If someone finds a tailor please pass me the contact in MP.
I'm grateful.

Atm everyone is doing their own, and there is no further mention of a tailor.

WOW!!! Just stumbled on this thread and glad I did. This custom sculpt is outstanding and the detail is amazing. I wish I was a bigger fan of the movie, but this figure looks great.

I realized. I do not have any aptitude to do this work.
If someone can make for me, please, send me one MP to combine it, or if knows who can make.

Tks

I want to say I'm sorry fellas we have this awesome sculpt and no tailor. I spoke to every tailor on here and can't get a bite from no one. I'm speaking to more tailor so finger crossed. I have rain man's Tailor info I can try her as well but if she agrees you know the price will be high.

Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

Ok i had a go at dyeing the kaustic plastik body and i'm pretty happy how it came out, especially in the joints where its needed the most. some parts wouldn't dye at all but not many. The body is so red i'm wondering if it will need painting at all atm. I probably will just so it melds in with oscars kit (which went pink when i tried dyeing it out of curiosity) when painted.

I couldn't get the arms off to remove the rubber chest part (which i dyed as well) so i sliced it up both sides under the armpit. I'll reglue it using superglue gel for rubber and plastics etc.

To split the figure i took the 2 plastic plugs out of the bum cheeks unscrewed the screws and it just comes in half.

I had to reheat the dyed water to a simmer a few times. I removed all the parts 1st of course as i didnt want them melting at the bottom. Near boiling water is fine but as the bottom of a pan is heating it would melt anything.

In all i was messing about dyeing it all for an hour just to see how red i could get it, plus you need to move the elbows, shoulder and leg joints etc to make sure the dye gets in there.

Use rubber gloves otherwise you'll get red fingers :) Have lots of paper towel handy as well cos this stuff is a pain to get off.

I also added 500ml of acetone as seb suggested. I dunno how much it helped as the plastic was going red before i added it anyway.

I used this as a basic walkthrough for using the dylon 9 pagoda red: https://www.dylon.com.au/factsheets/Project-Dyeing-Buttons-Pearls.pdf

Thanks for the info, CB. So the dye won't take if the water is too cool? Came out very nice.

Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

yeah i boiled 500ml (1/2 a litre) of water and added the dye. Then in the saucepan i filled it half full with very hot tap water and then a kettle full of boiled water and then added the 500ml of dyed boiling water. As long as its quite hot but you can still put your hand in for a bit your good to go.

I think i will paint oscars kit to match the red of the dye as its good enough and i wont have to worry about any paint flaking or rubbing off.

That looks great man... I've heard of dyeing bodies, but never seen an in-progress like that.

I dropped off the list awhile back, but now I've decided to get back on :lol At least this way I can benefit from seeing how you guys tackle this stuff first :lol

Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

It was really very easy to do the dye job in the end, and as long as you use a sieve or take the parts out when reheating the saucepan your golden. The only bits i have to paint is oscars kit nothing else on the body needs doing.

Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

It really is a good looking shade of red... and has just a bit of fleshyness left to look natural.

Re: legend (lord darkness) (list full!)(update page53 w.i.p of full kits)

Well we can all thank elvis1976 as he used told us about this method and what colour :)
