I read one review that said a huge chunk of the game was solving minor puzzles and moving boxes around to climb on or whatnot, and that though the story was fantastic, the gameplay was actually a bit of a disappointment. Obviously, some of you here disagree, but I might watch it on Youtube sometime myself, anyway, as I doubt I'll ever carve out the time to try and play it through.

I couldnt disagree more with this. There are MORE riveting sections filled with tension, dread, wonder, fear, and creativity than i can remember playing through in a single game in quite some time. At almost 18 hours of play time there are of course a few sections with minor puzzles but It never ceased to amaze me how the game kept reinventing itself all the while investing you emotionally.

I also remember hearing 'planks and ladders' grumblings from people, but if that's what they took away from the game then they had a chip on their shoulder to begin with. Any segments using those mechanics were brief and integrated into the gameplay in a believable way. I'm telling you, Sam, if you're a gamer at all, you owe it to yourself to give the game a try. And if you thinks there's even the slightest chance you might, stay away from youtube!
 
My major problem is finding the time to do it. I can devote little chunks of time to entertainment, like 30 minutes to an hour on a given night, but I imagine you might have a tough time playing through a game like that if you can't give it more time at a sitting. I've got about 10 different critically acclaimed games I bought over the last 3 or 4 years that I've never been able to play through for that reason. Maybe when the kids have gone off to college in about 17 years!

Actually that's exactly how I played it! Probably for the same reasons (wife and kid). I would have preferred playing it in longer stretches, but it didn't diminish the impact the game had on me or my enjoyment of it. The save points are very frequent, so you can quit at pretty much a moment's notice and not lose much progress, if any at all.

Or just do what I did... pause the game and turn off the tv.

I might give it a shot, then. This game seems to have captured the hearts and minds of gamers more than anything since, what, the mid-90s when Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid first came out?
 
I would ABSOLUTELY put on the level of Resident Evil 1&2, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid and Mario 64

Yes. Cinemascale and Iminime function exactly the same. Shipping is the same. Both ship from Korea directly.

I actually played through the game in a day. Started at night, played a bit, and slept. Woke up and played until I finished it, I feel like that's the best way to experience the story in it's entirety. Some people can run though the game without sleep and to them I say good for you but that's simply unhealthy for me. :lol

Also Wake, do you mind answer my question posted in my last post on this thread? Thanks :)

also Wake , how many different heads is there a reg joel, and bloody joel & ellie head? I am trying to justify being a vip member.with the 10 percent off 900. minuses 90. so that's good so far .
 
Game complete!!!!!! 6 straight hours to finish off where I left off on Thurs. Very impressed with the game and now the two just shined even more as I look at them. Now to sneak in bed after wifey called for me twice hours ago!!!! Ninja style upstairs.....lol
