Here's what I think is wrong with Trevor's sculpt on a basica level...

Head is too long. Mouth too low and wide. Eyes way too big. Chin too big. Eyes too high in face.

Here are my tweaks.

This is what I'm hoping to get from Rocco. I guess I'm in this by myself for now... I'll pay for the sculpting but I have a feeling some of you will want a cast.

Wow if the sculpt looked the one is on right thats would be awesome .

haha. I don't think I've ever seen anyone say anything less than Trevor's sculpts are phenomenal.

It takes balls on these boards to do a PS on something Trevor and Nathan did.

Having said all that, you did a very nice job on the PS.

I have to admit, I agree with Wake that I just really haven't seen the likeness in that Don sculpt. The photo shopping fixes that IMO. Just goes to show even Trevor is human and doesn't nail every project 100% of the time. Still a fantastic sculpt though, Trevor's texturing and details can't be beat!

Believe me its no offense to those guys! Nathans paints apps are unsurpassed. And Trevor is 99% Robot... this one was just in the one percentile.

That's a great manip Wake, no denying that your changes bring out more Hamm. That being said, I still think the sculpt is excellent as it is. I would love to see Rocco replicate what you've done with the manip, and if he did I would definitely be down for a cast. I'm only skeptical because while Rocco has a strong likeness track-record, his finish/refinement isn't quite on Trevor's level.

Love the show! Just watched the series a second time after turning my wife on to it. Curious to see the final product, hope it works out for you all....

Hopefully under my art direction that can be achieved.

very good mods wake, but I really can't get on board on this list. no disrespect intended to rocco, but Trevor really is an absolute master, and while don MAY be one of his poorer efforts, IMO his worst is still light years above of anyone elses best... but hey, Ill wait and reserve judgment until I see this one!

Hey you may be right chili pepper. But I gotta try. I want a spot on accurate draper. I'm working with Rocco right now to achieve it. The first pass was not there. I'm hoping Rocco's second attempt is good enough to tweak to perfection.

I'm pulling for you Wake, I really am! Just keep in mind that your number of revisions is limited in your original commission price with Rocco.

I agree with chilipep in that it's easy to take for granted some aspects of Trevor's sculpts (like the detail and finish) that many sculptors just don't (or can't) match. And even if the likeness isn't absolutely 100%, those aspects contribute a lot to the overall appearance of the portrait.

He's given me three revisions per his quote. So I'm on number 1. Hoping to get there. I agree about the detail and what not. Hoping to use my last pass to get rocco to smooth out his lines (he can sometimes be a little rough round the edges) and add texture.

Sounds like you've got a solid plan. :rock
