Rocco, I just sent an email to your aol account, voicing a concern already touched upon in this thread, but still undiscussed: the headset.
As I point out in my email to you, the hair seems quite long on the top (the sides are great), and that might be a problem for the Han Solo headsets (only option at a CM headet, even if it is not screen accurate as is). I guess there's not going to be removable hair with an alternate hairpiece (as Hot toys did with Han Solo), so I pretty much assume the only solution would be cutting the hair shorter. On top of that: don't you guys really think Hicks' hair-mass was as big as the head sculpt shows, compared to the actual head...? Heck... I don't remember the hair being so voluminous, especially in the rearside and on top:
Thus, independently of the headset, I really think there's too much volume of hair in the headsculpt. Sides might be OK, but hair on top and rearside is just too long. It makes the head look a bit too big.
You can even measure it yourself: in the pic attached, Hicks hair length on top is a bit more than half the length of his forehead. In the sculpt, it equals the length of it. That's why when I look at the headsculpt, I don't get the feeling of lightness, terseness and quickness that Hicks has always conveyed to me.
But even cutting the hair shorter, the headset problem will remain, unless this solution I suggest be accepted: in the movie, Hicks is either carrying a helmet (which Rocco should try and make sure the head will fit in), or a headset. Well then why not sculpt the hair with a permanent recess for the headset's band to fit into? With the helmet on, it won't be visible, with the helmet off, headset glory. Only problem: Sculptor would need a HT headset, and maybe run 1 or 2 iterations.
We could cover increased design costs.
What do you guys think?
BTW: I'm interested in a neckless Hicks, but sit on the fence right now, waiting for input on the headset aspect: at this level of expenditure ($70 only the head, then who knows how much for having it painted), I really need the HS to solve me all problems of depicting Hicks accurately, and the headset aspect is a very important one to it.
Thanks,
m.
