No, the sad face was because you won't be making the 'nasty face'. I was really hoping more people would chime in. Only five though so far.
I took a couple new pictures of my futzed and final pose Raoul as well as in the prison jumpsuit...
REVIEW:
As I said before, I really, really like this figure. Raoul's main outfit is very well-made: pants and jacket have working pockets, tailoring is top-notch, he even has socks. He comes out of the box just about perfect, minor futzing needed really. But if you like to strip-and-redress your figures, you can get a really nice look.
The sculpt is amazing. Again, I can't say enough good things about it. The more I look at it, the more I appreciate the attention to detail that went into it. Hot Toys level in detail and painting.
Be very careful with the feet: I tore a sock trying to get his feet out of the tight-fitting shoes.
My only two problems with the main outfit would be the belt (unnecessary anyway) and the shirt pattern (not screen accurate nor the correct material but looks nice in hand). I really hope Nat will consider redoing the shirt at some point.
2nd outfit: I have more problems here. The prison outfit is simple but effective. Unfortunately I'm not sure I will ever use it since there is only one sculpt and only one body. You have to choose which look you want -- and I believe most will choose the main suit. Thus the prison outfit suffers for being a secondary option and because of that it is clearly less satisfying.
The big problems here: the shoulders are very tight, making the short sleeves flare out and appear too short -- and the pictures above are on a narrow-shoulder body! Two of the snaps on my jumpsuit came unraveled -- before I even snapped them together. I believe this is a result of Nat removing the buttons that were originally there. I can re-sew them but I shouldn't have to right out of the box.
Again, there are inaccuracies in the prison outfit: shoes shouldn't have laces, jumpsuit shouldn't have belt loops, collar is over-sized, shoulders too narrow, snaps not stitched properly. That said, for the less strict viewer, the overall appearance captures the moment well enough. And this is really a 'bonus outfit' after all so it really doesn't weight too heavily on me. With a smaller body -- and one hopes a new Silva sculpt will appear once "Skyfall" starts running on cable -- you could futz this into a worthwhile 2nd figure.
Having Silva's nasty toothless head sculpt would really garner more points for this outfit. Hint, hint, Nat. :wink1:
So overall, I'm more than impressed with my first-ever Nat custom. There is a lot of effort that went into this figure, and only wish more people were interested in this character so they could actually hold this in hand to appreciate it. I do not buy full-custom figures very often, but I am very happy that I did with this one. It is a real prize.
I am very eager to see what Nat's 3rd effort will be.
