Hey Remy! Many thanks for the kind words and I'm glad you enjoy my silly videos! It is fun being able to share my collection this way on YouTube and get feedback from friends and other folks with similar interests. Just having a great collection all to yourself without being able to show others is nowhere near as fun! Have you left comments on any of my vids? If so, what's your YouTube user name? I have trouble keeping track of the guys with different user names...
Speaking of sharing, I love your collection thread here on the SSF forums and have it bookmarked as a favorite. Ever since you got your new camera and started taking the new pics, your collection has looked even more killer than ever! I need to learn how to take pics like that! I bought a new SLR, but my pics still look like crap! What am I doing wrong?
Anyhow, I don't want to derail this thread any more than I have. Keep that awesome collection going and I'll be looking forward to more of you great pics! I certainly hope I can score this Freddy now! He certainly would be a great addition to the collection, even if I don't get the DX set!

Re: Freddy's Revenge 1 LAST (SET A) SPOT OPEN!

I dont have a youtube account, I should though cause I kinda want to eventually maybe do the same thing and post vids of the collection.
I have to credit you and darthmagnus for getting me started on the horror theme.
I have yours and his youtube bookmarked also and i look at them all the time,
specially when I was customizing my Myers studying what I need to complete the project.

Always wanted a Beto freddy and I was bummed when I saw one on the for sale thread, but the seller changed his mind. I saw he is selling his again but I already bought one of Beto's unpainted freddy head so I plan on finishing that one.

As far as taking pics, the biggest tip in taking pictures is lighting. Much like in movies, or museums, the biggest thing to highlight images is lighting.
When I put figures in my detolf, I dont just stick them in and all the leds are just on top. My led lights are on different sides, some on top, some on the side, some on top but going vertical. I literally move them inch by inch to see where the best spot is.
Also, a big big big tip is to get a canon 50mm 1.8 lens. Its only a little over $100 but its gonna be one of your best purchase.
Of course, also important is finding a nice pose.
After that, I just let the camera do its magic. I take tons and tons and tons of pictures and eventually just sort the few that I like.
Your collection is amazing, man...I would have a field day taking pics of your figures.

Remy, all I can say is you do some amazing customizing work, especially in the repainting department. Do you do some kind of art related work as a profession? You just have a great sense of color, technique, and skill and your photos have some great composition going on.

Speaking of pics, I certainly understand that lighting is key. My new camera is a Nikon D3100 (whatever that means). All I know is that it's supposed to be an SLR camera. I'm one of those dudes that just takes stuff out of the box without reading instructions, so I have no clue how to really use this yet. I just switch the thing on and snap away hoping my pics will magically turn out incredible. So far no luck! LOL! I like how your pics have focus on the main figure with great blurring on the foreground and background areas. Is there a trick or special setting for that, like some Macro lens type thing I need or setting I have to use? Also, do you use a flash with your pics or does it just depend on the lighting? Lastly, do you use autofocus or do things manually? You can get back to me on your spare time and just reply through PM as I feel like I'm straying off the topic of this thread here. And how about touching up the pics with photoshop or something like that... Do you do that?

Sorry guys! If you haven't already checked out Remy's collection and pics, do it! Some really nice shots that are really having me desiring to achieve the same someday with my pics!

Get it you won't be disappointed 15/10:rotfl

Well, I'd better get confirmation from Beto about this figure before I get too excited. Hopefully it'll be mine so I can gawk at it for days to come! I'm certain I won't be disappointed as I absolutely love his work!

Re: Freddy's Revenge 1 LAST (SET A) SPOT OPEN!

Thank you so much for the compliment emarae.
I majored in art over 10 years ago but I ended up in the printing Industry which my line of work doesnt involve any art which is why I've been enjoying modding and picture taking. Brings back some of the creative side I've been missing for years. So I have this hobby to thank for that.

I think my friend has your camera, if its the same one, it should be good. Just quick pointers...the 50mm lens I recommended gives that blurry effect background; I always use manual setting cause it lets you be creative...just play with the settings, I learned a lot of the technique at youtube, lol; lastly, never use flash...flash is bad, it washes out the color and can distort the look badly.

K, back on topic. Someone posted that Beto is on a vacation or something and should be back soon. Really rooting for you to get it. Looking forward to hopefully see your youtube review.

Hey Rem,

Awesome pointers! I was considering checking out YouTube also for some pointers. I'll have to look into that 50mm lens you mentioned. I also avoid using the Flash, but just thought I'd ask just in case. Now I'm excited to try and mess with my camera again!

As for your customs again, you killed it with the mods you made on the Horror Figs! Especially that Leatherface! Now I feel like picking up that figure and seeing if I can bring it to life the way you did! Wow..! Scary crap!!!

Beto just contacted me after visiting a mutual friend of ours here in California. I wish I knew he was around so I could've hooked up! Darn! Anyhow, he's in Seattle now and should be back soon. Hopefully he's enjoying his vacation with Lu! The last Freddy is mine, so I'm pretty excited about it now! Yay! :yess:
