Jack is my only want there! A more neutral expression would be better but the picture you posted would make for a great DX extra sculpt.

Jack is actually my least wanted of them, but only because I got lucky enough to score one of Feng's custom heads for my Subway Jack.

But I would just love RM to do as much Kubrick related material as possible. I think Dave Bowman in his space suit would be particularly striking.

Well I am Jackless and I have been pining for rainman to tackle him now for some time.

I'd prefer a "Falling Down" figure but

I still love the idea of Dustin hoffman's Captain Hook, I forget who suggested him originally but great choice who ever that was!:hi5:

I think Hook was Deckard's suggestion, definitely a character (especially in design) worthy of the Rainman treatment!

I could see Serang taking on Hook. His style of sculpting and painting would fit Hook like a glove. Although I have not held Serang's figure in my hand yet. The tailoring on Jimi's tunic looks amazing :thud:

I don't think Rainman would want to tackle Hook's outifit, but I am sure Serang is up to the challenge. Only problem is he already has his next few projects projected out into early next year (Marley & Prince) Will be some time before this even has the possibility of getting made :gah:

I feel like, with no offence to RM, his prices are steadily increasing with no real extra effort to reflect this in terms of complicated costumes.

WHat I mean is RM is indifferant to how complicated a piece is and has gone from charging around $750 to $950 for a fullset.

I don't think we should even be suggesting something anymore unless it's as complicated as something like Hook etc. To me some suggestions, I won't single any out, are just way too simple, a guy in a suit, which is fine as a figure but not for me at this price. When this happened with the Narrator, we even got a full extra clothing and head set. Basically 2 figures for the price hike but now its the norm.

I would prefer it if RM offers more figures like Wonka where the costume is elaborate, multi layered, and incredibly unique or otherwise impossible to replicate already within existing parts in the hobby. Which is why I'm glad Teddy commissioned DAvid. Its a great looking figure, but it's too simple imo, mostly what you see is a big black coat, which is not something I feel is an attention grabber on display. Thats why I like his Western type figures, or like the suggestion of Django unchained, those are the type of much more elaborate costumes, cuts, colors, patterns, and layers that I would prefer. Just my 2 cents.

It's all pretty subjective though. I can agree that it seems like sometimes there is an
imbalance between price and product, but who's to say it doesn't take more man hours to complete one portrait versus the next. We take for granted Rainman's natural sculpting ability, but I would think some portraits naturally require more effort and time than others. That might be the decisive factor in price, plus, his ability to capture "likeness" has always been his main selling point. The clothes are amazing but that's usually outsourced to some unamed amazing 1/6 tailor. I hope he eventually broadens his range based on subject matter which is what real art is. Some more obscure figures would be great. The type of figures that would provoke conversion. He's got a fanbase to cater to though, and as his popularity grows, so will those prices. Supply and Demand dictates that regardless of accessories or suits. If we're going to call this Art, then it's all subjective as in "Who wants it" vs. "Who Wants it the Most".:dunno

While the complexity of the outfit isn't a primary concern for me, in general, I would prefer something unique and that you aren't likely to see elsewhere over something like a guy in a suit (though there are a few guys in suits like Bogart Sam Spade that I would love to see Rainman tackle). And it does seem like Rainman's prices are pretty constant no matter how complex or simplistic the outfit is. So considering that, I would feel easier plopping down the money he asks for if the outfit were fancier. Paying $350+ for a Pee Wee suit is gonna be tough because it is so simple, but it is also very distinctive, so I'll probably do it. If it were a traditional suit (for Don Draper, for instance), then I would very possibly pass on the suit and 'bash one myself. But if he were doing Last Samurai for the same price, then it's a no brainer that it is a better value for your dollar and I would probably pick it up.

To Turbo's point though, I personally consider the tailoring to be as important as the figure's likeness to a Rainman piece. The tailoring sets Rainman apart from so many other custom artists that don't provide such high quality outfits. It is those factors plus his accessories that keep me interested in his work. If I were only interested in capturing likenesses, then Rainman would still be a great artist, but he wouldn't be in a class by himself IMO as there are some other amazing sculptors out there like Trevor Grove that can rival Rainman's abilities in that area.
