I finally got a dominant red I like for the fabric, so that is settled. Thanks to Gruff Old Bear for helping on that part.

Depending on my motherhood demands, I'll get the final version done this afternoon if possible.

I'm still debating whether to do a real knot or fake knot. I'm going to make both.

I got a prototype tie done. It ties like a real necktie.

The final fabric has a great faux-silk sheen, but is harder to press a perfectly straight edge with. Next I will try to do a fake knot and get the pattern to line up properly.



There's also the question of how long the tie should be. Pants were very high waisted by modern standards, so ties were shorter. My view is that it doesn't matter, because everyone will have the jacket buttoned.

So I tried doing a necktie as Yunsil and some other clothing makers have done at 1:6.



Honestly I'm not very happy with the result. Even if I pulled the fake knot into a slightly more typical wedge shape, I think the real-tie necktie looks better. Feedback is welcome.

I did figure out a technique to get the pattern to line up properly, so the elastic-band tie on the right is pretty typical of the final result.

These will be $15 shipped anywhere. I'll make a final version and then start accepting payment. PM me if interested.

The fabric is soft. It's not as flexible as a real tie because of the way I turn the edges, but it's nothing like cardboard.

I'll get to work on the final version today.

I'm in for a tie. I think the full tie looks better there but I'd like to see it on a figure with shirt though to see fit. As far as length, I agree you'll never see it under a the vest/jacket.
