Re: Commando (1985) John Matrix head sculpt [sdabbs]

When will we make payment on painting? Does a sample need to be painted first?

Just looked at all these pages - this is a fantastic likeness and sculpt fellas - WELL DONE

A dev is crazy obsessed with Arnie hahahahahah - looks like it paid off!

Here's a picture of it on a body - unfortunately not the commando one as the caster does not have that body.

I'm not really sure if this is helping with anything as it makes the head look far too big, so there another shot of it next to some other 1/6 heads for reference (the head is on a standard size neck there too)

Is it just me, or the lower lips are a bit bigger than they should be?

it's the lighting! I noticed this before about another head Frost vision molded for me and it makes the lips look inflated for some reason!

Would love to get a full Ivan Danko figure. I guess the outfit would be a little difficult though.

OK so update, some good and some slightly less good news - but still all good :)

We have been experimenting with using semi-transparent, flesh coloured casts. We have finally some good protos out of it an can cast them in that material. The end result would be a much more realistic skin tone once painted.

The only downside is, the casts cost more than normal resin casts do, and for the price the of the head we have asked $65) is not going to cover it i'm afraid.

SO i wanted to know, are you guys happy to send an extra $10 each for a semi transparent flesh colour cast, or are you not happy with paying the extra $10 and just want a normal resin head.

images below (bare in mind this is not the commando head)

If it's the semi transparent material, the base colour they will be cast in is the middle head in the first picture. I've spoke to a couple of painters and they said the middle head would be the best colour choice out of the 3.

I think I would be okay with the extra $10. I guess I know what it's going to say in the Total Recall thread now. LOL

What are the benefits of having a flesh coloured cast? Isn't it getting fully painted over anyway? Sorry, I don't really know about such things.

With it being semi transparent and flesh coloured, less paint is needed to be put on the cast and therefore the paint will be less noticeable and look more realistic . Helps bring create a more realistic finished skin tone.

Whichever is fine, there's no pressure to use the semi transparent material. If people do not want to spend the extra $10 they can all be done in grey resin.

Just need to get confirmation is all, as these can go to cast when decided.

Personally, I wouldn't want to pay the extra 10$
I was quite satisfied with conventional casting

Easier for the painter? I want whoever I decide to paint my sculpt to work for their money :lecture :lol Jokes. I was satisfied enough with the way it was before though, so I don't mind keeping it that way. If the majority want flesh coloured though, I'm okay with that as well.
