Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

FAQ Updated 11/29/2015

FAQ
Please read this before posting questions!

What is this?

It’s a custom headsculpt of Cameron from Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show, with the option of a normal sculpt, a battle damaged sculpt, or both.

How much will each head cost?

$100 for one head, $150 for two and $200 for 3. Shipping, painting and handling cost are not included.

Sean Dabbs is doing the designs and sculpting? Who is he and why should I care?

Sean is a remarkably talented sculptor with an eye for accuracy. You can view samples of his work here:

Sean Dabbs Designs

Sean Dabbs'''s (seandabbsfx) Pictures, Photos & Images | Photobucket

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=151269&d=1418319022

How about painting? Will these come painted?

Painted heads are optional and will be done by GDB Studios, with the clean heads costing USD50 ad the BD heads USD55 each. Should you decide to have the heads painted yourself, just opt for unpainted heads. You can view samples of GDB's work here:

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/...damaged-headsculpts-sdabbs-5.html#post7394126

https://www.sideshowcollectors.com/...damaged-headsculpts-sdabbs-5.html#post7394128

When will I see a prototype or the finished product?

The prototype renders are on the first post, the final cast should be ready at a certain point after all payments are received.

Is there an option for wigs?

The heads will come with removable, 3-part sculpted hair, which means you can mod the head to accommodate a wig yourself.

Do I need to pay in full?

Yes, from 11/28/2015 onward no more deposits are being taken, instead Sean is taking in full payments until the the heads are cast. I'd assume no more slots will be open when the heads are ready to cast.

Is there a limit to the list?

Not until the heads are ready to cast.

Is this a full figure?

No. Due to cost concerns, we will not be offering bodies, weapons, stands or a phased plasma rifle in the 40 watt range. You can easily obtain them on your own.

How about her outfit? I want screen accurate clothes!

Unfortunately, no. I've tried contacting a few tailors and the cost was more than double of the head itself! You can easily find aftermarket clothes of your liking on places like eBay. This thread will be kept alive for any discussion on putting together an outfit.

Will the heads come predrilled?

Yes they will. No one wants an un-drilled head, that would be a nightmare!

Do I need to pay for shipping?

Yes. The amount is to be determined but we're trying to keep it at a minimum.

Why are there two freaks managing this thread? Who am I supposed to refer to?

Because this is a group effort by Solidus and myself, so referring to any of us is fine. So that it's out there though, we're both not making any profits out of this beyond the asking price of the sculptors and painters and we're required to pay the same amount as you do. Damn.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

I remember that Trevor did an amazing head-sculpt several years ago, but I'm confident that we can get a much better one from this. From what we've seen, Sean's work is simply unparallelled and his attention to accuracy is second-to-none.

I'm not sure how long we'll be in "interest" stage, but hopefully, we can get more people joining the party.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

I've got the Trevor sculpts but have never had them painted or implemented them on a body, just because I've been spending all my money elsewhere, I've always intended to have them done eventually. Those are still fantastic, only thing is the hair sculpt on them is very specifically being blown to one side by the wind. Beautifully done, just very specific.

Something more neutral would appeal to me for more options when I eventually do finish out a Cameron figure or figures. So yeah put me on the list for a clean and BD sculpt - especially if the BD is as pictured in the first post.

Good to know you're in! I agree this time it should be that of a neutral hair, so it could fit well with the HT Arnolds displays more naturally. I think the BD sculpt will be based off the episode "Born to Run" which is indeed that picture above. We can talk about painters and screen accurate clothes if there is substantial interest.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

Interested in both depending on sculpt and price of course. I'd want wigs as we well.
I have a painted Trevor version that I was planning to sell as well as a new BD Kumik haired version. I only saw two episodes of the show but liked the visual style. I have them all on itunes so should probably catch up one day.

I would personally go with the wig myself, and ideally we could just have the wig version as the standard but as mentioned above it will be pricier.

As for the series itself, I expected it to be crap but it greatly exceeded my expectations and I now put it side-by-side with T1 and T2. It's such great writing that I manage to get people who aren't even into sci-fi/Terminator into the show. What a shame it never got the recognition it deserved.

Anyway, Solidus will update the thread once he's back later on.

Screen accurate clothes would be of interest to me aswell. That's actually another reason I had yet to complete a Cameron figure, finding the right clothes.

And there's a few other reasons:

-Need a definitive body - the Sarah Connor body has terrible knees which bend forward making it very unstable)

-want sockets inside the head so as it can attach properly to a body and be interchangeable for other heads. Because the placement of these sockets inside the head will determine how high or low they sit on the neck it would not necessarily be easy to swap to another body at a later date because you could end up with a serious giraffe neck or a neck that's too short. So the body has to be permanent, one that I will not feel a need to replace.

-actually drilling the holes for these sockets makes me very nervous indeed, I'm not sure I can do it, I haven't attempted it yet on any of the heads that I have

I haven't watched it since it first aired but I recall enjoying it for the most part. It kinda did what the movies have been doing in that it took the piss with all the time travelling, really just hammering Kyle Reese's story into the ground about the Time Displacement equipment being destroyed after he went through, but it got the tone a lot closer (to T2 at least). And it had some pretty interesting scenarios in it. Terminators being sent back too far, Terminators being sent on other missions like guarding facilities that will be important to Skynet etc etc.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

Definitively would be interested in a normal head not sure again a battle damaged or at least not that battle damaged. What sort of price for a sculpt?

Agreed on everything you said there. There is no Cameron Police Shootout outfit that's on the aftermarket so that's definitely gonna be tailored. With or without the bullet holes is debatable. As for the normal Cameron head, maybe any outfit will do but I'd love the green tank top and black jeans she wore often.

It was also more respectful to T2 than anything that came after it, trying to expand the lore in a sensible direction without trying to one up James Cameron's work. It also did the right thing by wiping out T3 instead of y'know, the whole mythology. <Cough.. Genisys.. cough>

Definitively would be interested in a normal head not sure again a battle damaged or at least not that battle damaged. What sort of price for a sculpt?

Awesome! The price is not finalized until Sean can determine based on how many people are in. I think Cameron got battle damaged only a few times in the show but the final episode was at its worst.

Interested depending on the price and what sort of bodies you guys find to go with the head sculpt. I'm still new to custom figures. But I've wanted a Cameron from Hot Toys. I don't think that will happen though.

If HT made a Cameron, I'll eat fried crow with rice.

Anyway, we haven't decided if we really need a body as naturally we'll like to keep the cost at a minimum. So long as we can get the head and an outfit tailored, the body should be easily obtainable on eBay. Like a-dev said, it has to be drilled so it would be easier to fit a body. I'm speaking to a painter too, if anyone wants their heads painted though naturally that would incur more.

So are you interested in the normal or BD head? Solidus will update the list soon.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

I'd be up for a battle damaged one please, unpainted as I can paint it myself.

Bodywise, probably come up with something Otaku / alpha hybrid sort of thing, then some battle damage bullet holes can be drilled into the pvc torso

Sure thing, will update the thread. Painted heads are definitely optional but we'll offer a painter regardless. I too plan to paint my own headsculpt if this happens, though the idea of a chrome Endo intimidates me as a painter. :lol

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

Interested in the regular version, possibly the battle damaged after.

Do we have an idea on pricing?
Will these be painted as well?

Thanks!

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

I'm interested in a normal head, if priced reasonably.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

Thanks to those who responded so far! We'll get a price soon, and I'll put it on the opening post. Ryan is currently getting in contact with a few people about painting the heads, so we'll have a price for that as well.

Will update the list!

Pricing will most probably be determined by how many freaks are on board, so there's no word on that just yet but I'll update the second Sean could determine them.

As for the painted heads, I'm speaking with a professional painter to see if he's willing to paint them and will state the price once I get a reply from him. Painted heads are optional, of course.

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

Depending on cost(and timing) I might be interested in a battle damaged head. But not as damaged as that pic. I would want mine painted though. I lack the skill. Would that be an option?

Re: Terminator: TSCC - Cameron (Summer Glau) Normal/Battle Damaged headsculpts [sdabb

I'd try to get someone to customize a version like this as well. I've got a Phicen seamless body with a broken arm that would probably work perfectly.
