The new door control panels arrived in the mail today and I'll be back in my cave in the morning to get them painted, as always i will post a few pics as I go along.

won't be too long before you get this first batch now guys

Ok here we go, not very intersting to look at but you can see I'm on the case

New panels were primed and then sprayed gloss black as a base for the Aclad

They look nice and shiny in the pic above and I thought they were too until I went back to them after they were left to dry and found this

I think I was a bit heavy with the thinner and it evaporated too quickly and left them blotchy so I had another go

Much better

the lenses I'm using have got a ridge around the bottom of them that looks quite close to the shape of the ones used on screen

I panted the base in a bright silver, this is kind of a test at the moment so I've only painted enough for one panel so far as I want to make sure it stands up to handling without rubbing off when I fit them. I'm sure it will be ok but if not I'll clear coat them but I'm trying this way first because the clear coat will dull the effect of the silver and if I can get away without it I think it will look better

More to come over the next couple of days

Looking nice Pete, really liking the silver band around the lights very nice touch.
The certificates will be done over the weekend mate just need to finalise the embossing.
I'll also prepare the shipping list / details for them all.

Great work buddy :yess:

Thanks guys, really appreciate the comments :hi5:

Forgot how long these bases take, been on these all day today :impatient: lol
A little sanding and the small details in the side recesses to add in the morning should only take an hour or so and then I can start building the sides.

Apart from having to repair my big window blind for the J-Cave as I somehow managed to pull the entire thing off the wall this morning,:lol:slap I had another really good day in the workshop (J-Cave)
All dio bases are now complete and made a good start on the outer frames. The rest of the build goes together fairly easy from now on. The bases are a huge part of this build with over 45 individual components and a vast amount of joints to glue and sand.
Got a bad case of sanders arm :lol

Nice one mate, I should just about have these ready when they arrive

Love seeing these in-progress pics. As a scale modeler, I appreciate the attention to detail.

Thanks buddy, what kind of things do you build ?. My own personal stuff has hit the rocks of late, I find lots of enthusiasm to start a new one but haven't manage to complete one for months

Sorry for the delay in updates, real life got in the way again along with me doing a mischief to my back whilst cleaning my driveway ( middle age sucks lol )

Anyway it won't happen again as I've got one of these to keep me in line

It's even got my name on it

he thinks I'm bluffing

Shenanigans out of the way and back to the job in hand.

Panels are painted

First one has got the lenses fitted

Just going to glue the lenses to the rest after I post this and then I'm going to sport out the grease stains on he front of the step.

Not much left to do now so I'm confident that I will be shipping next week but I'll still take some decent pics in better lighting before they go in the box
