Re: American Werewolf in London - NAZI DEMON "Curly" UPDATE: PAINTED PICS - by CAINE

Absolutely mega sculpt - superb job!

I think the nazi scene is an almost Jungian subliminal fight against pre-pubescent rage and it parallels what the protagonist is going through in his own violent rage filled nighmares in his current pre-change state...

Only kidding, its a brill scene - no idea what its about! Really love this figure though!!!

B-)

I think that this scene was in the movie because David was afflicted with the werewolf curse and was Jewish. So this entire nightmare with nazi werewolves projected 2 of his greatest fears in one I guess. Also symbolizing he wouldnt be seeing his family anymore, hence their murders. :dunno Sounds good to me. :lol

Re: American Werewolf in London - NAZI DEMON "Curly" UPDATE: PAINTED PICS - by CAINE

You know I have actually thought about that sequence a lot. I think that nazis have some kind of vague wolf associations, combined with David being Jewish and being attacked in Europe, I always felt he was having a dream based on his ancestral connection to the holocaust.

Looks great. Can't wait to get this. I found a brilliant photo of the original head for paint reference. Do you mind if I post it in here?

Thanks! Not at all. I'm excited to see your paint up!

When sourcing reference for the sculpt I found that pic as well. It's strange because the paint seems so different in the film.

I wondered if it were age or just the shift in color on film.

Re: American Werewolf in London - NAZI DEMON "Curly" UPDATE: PAINTED PICS - by CAINE

So many possibilities really. I read that the pics I have are from the real piece that was sold at auction but that means its thirty years old. So who knows. I plan to use the pic as reference for texture and what not but gear the colors to the film we know. Film is too blurry to pull good detail bits from.

Started to pick up some pieces for this outfit and this is what I came up with so far for pretty cheap.

Jacket:

Pants:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/XE31-02-1-...7133?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item51b3ee903d

Black shoulder straps for jacket:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Viktor-Sch...7119?pt=US_Action_Figures&hash=item3f26aa7d8f

Also picked up a belt with shoulder strap. Just need boots, gloves, and knife. Anyone know what the accurate knife is??...

A word of caution on the Dragon parts... they're for a pretty small body type so I found them to be too small when I worked on a Curly figure in the past. Also the quality is not quite as good as other makers.

But for around $10 it's probably worth the gamble :lol

Dang. I hope they're not horribly undersized. Did you buy this particular jacket, GB?

Re: American Werewolf in London - NAZI DEMON "Curly" UPDATE: PAINTED PICS - by CAINE

I don't recall which one I bought... it was years ago when another person planned to offer a sculpt :lol Looks similar though, but hard to say since Dragon has released a ton of WWII figures over the years.

My Dragon parts came in today and everything is a good fit and decent quality!

Also, as mmmbrains was saying about the collar being dark green, the collar on this jacket ended up being green lol. I might darken it up a bit though. Im pretty pleased with these parts and at 11 bucks not bad at all!

Heres some pics of the jacket and the uniform on a knock off true type.
