Rooted hair would solve all of the problems, but that would only add to the costs, and futzing.

Yeah I'm hoping to get it back sometime in the near future.

And BTW a big open faced expression like this is what I think would be best... but you gotta have open eyes. I love this Caine sculpt for how unique it is, but if we are gonna go Balloonman we gotta have something with some real expression to it.

I feel like I'm in the minority here, but I don't think I agree on the "sinister" expressions. In my mind, when I think of Nicholson Joker, I think big huge, CRAZY looking smile. In terms of the FILM ITSELF, we see that "sinister" look very seldom. The shots of the "sinister" look all come from promotional shots, which I don't think reflects the Nicholson or the Joker that we actually end up seeing throughout the duration of the film.

don't get me wrong, he definitely flashes that sinister look a couple of times... but to me you can get that same sinister look along with the signature smile and teeth. I think the images from Partyman, with the sort of dropped jaw and... I dunno, something just looks off to me.

In the larger images I posted you get way more of the signature smile. The first one is a great one IMO.... big crazy eyes, wide smile... lots of expression. The final 3 images, which are smaller, are a good combination of "sinister" look but that still maintain the smile. And they don't have that odd looking (IMO) dropped jaw of those promo images.

I agree with all of your statement Andy, but either way I think with Balloonman on board it will be an upgrade from the HT sculpt.
I think we can give 2 options to Balloonman and we can try to hear his take which he think is more in his liking.

What are the plans for the hat? I know somebody mentioned StripedBox, and I think Tatiana could definitely pull of a natural look for it.
I agree with BigWayne about the expression not working with the hat though.

Also, will the fat suit have sleeves that connect underneath the gloves like in the movie and on the DX08?

Yeah hat definitely need to be fabric, that's why I will contact Tatiana after the sculpt is done.
And I'm thinking of getting the sculpt partial bald on top but have the hair on the side, so we can have the hat sit perfectly on to the sculpt.
So the ultimate look will be the sculpt + the hat, and if people want to get the hair you can have it rooted, because with Jack Nicholson Joker I think a rooted hair is the only way to go honestly.

In my mind, the biggest issue with those samples of the “sinister look” is that they require the hat as an effective prop. Given that balloonman isn’t going to be sculpting this with the hat on, I think it’s going to be challenging to get a hat to sit correctly on the sculpt, particularly if the hair isn’t perfectly flat (which I am not at all a fan of). I’d actually prefer a sculpt that doesn’t require a hat.

I’m still hopeful that balloonman is comfortable choosing the sculpt. I thought that was going to be an option we voted on, but I don’t see it listed for some reason.

Yes Balloonman definitely have the final say, we can propose 2 options and he can decide which look that he want to get, I also prefer artist have the final say on what he wants to create.
But looking on his portfolio he seems always knock out of the park the more crazy expression sculpt, that's what I want to utilize in the beginning.

It may be a good idea to either have him do the whole thing (sculpt both the head and hat). or have him do a full sculpt (not bald) and send that over to whoever is doing the hat. I’m not sure that having two different parties effectively working on the head will result in any type of continuity. Again, if we want balloonman to be responsible for the look, he should probably have full control of it.

Surely a cast (with full hair) can be modified afterwards? The detail will stay, but it will shrink by a mm.

It would be great to have the option to pose this guy with or without the hat.

If you look at some of the indy heads, they’re cast bald on the top, hair on the sides, but with a hat. I guess you could pose them without the hat, but they would look like someone’s grandfather

I've got to admit, the whole open mouth thing is starting to grow on me. Especially seeing the yellowed teeth in contrast to the red in the lips and the eye color.

Honestly I think the part bald and side hair option would be the best..
I don't think people can pay both hat + hat less sculpt Ray, again with your rooting skill I don't think this will be any problems for you hahaha.

Yeah that would be amazing, if anyone want to do this.. we can definitely ask Yunsil team to do it.. but again the clothing set price will be more expensive.
