Look what the Sean Dabbs/ Gee Whiz collaboration is costing once you add in all the items from the other people doing accessories. It has to be over 1K.

Exactly, I personally think the price Cult King has set is fair when you consider all the work that has been put into it. The legbrace, the belt gear, weapons and weathering.

The head-sculpt looks to be the best Mad Max sculpt available as well IMO.

I do think the leg brace is a bit clunky looking. The one being offered for the other figure is thinner and looks more in scale. That would be another $200 to switch that out. I would like to get this, but just don't know.

Yeah, I guess so. The full weathered outfit and accessories look great.

Hmmm... I don't know about that though. Maybe it'll grow on me but the main reason I'm having a hard time justifying the price is the fact it's not quite Mel to me.

I'm not sure what to think of the sculpt. Looks off in the promo pics. It certainly looks good in this shot. Repainting as well?

I am out....while the outfit looks great too much cash for a suspect head sculpt. I have Detective and Warrior so I know they can get Gibson's likeness. I'll wait for Cruise PO.

I really want a version of Max in my collection, but I thought this figure was coming later after Butch and Sundance, which is what I'm currently saving for. I'd hate to pass on this though; there aren't any others in the pipeline.

Yeah, Max is an expensive character. The Geewhiz/Sean Dabbs project and the VM piece were both above average in terms of cost, so the price doesn't really disappoint me.

I think the jacket problem is because its tailored to that body. If you look at source material it hits exactly where it should but because the torso is too shirt, the jacket in turn is too short too. I'm waiting for the day that this hobby offers a body with real human proportions. I know Kato has been talking about a body he and some one else are developing. I wonder if it will ever see the light of day.

I just dont see that much of a mel in that sculpted face , way to much of a heavy beard , he should also be darker tanned since he has been out on the road for year and weather beaten by the sun

the body of figure is also far to skinny for me

i saw this one at Famcon last year and thought it was great even thou it also doesn't look like mel much either , but at $800 i just can see me paying for something without pics of the final product

The body used in the pics is just for illustrative purposes, to give you some idea of how the completed figure is going to look. It does state that a muscle body is to be used for production.

As for likeness? Ok, maybe not 100% spot on, but I think the posed shots of the figure make it look dodgier than it is, due to them being way too dark. I doubt the head is really going to come looking so hirsute. The (better lit) shots of the head sculpt, on it's own, sans body, is hopefully nearer to what we're going to get.

True, you can find stills from the movie that look absolutely nothing like the sculpt (although using a publicity shot from Beyond Thunderdome is cheating just a bit), but you can also find others that make the sculpt look not too far removed from Gibson's look in The Road Warrior:

Mel isn't that muscular, he has a lean slim physique with slim muscular arms. A good body would be the Tony Stark body if the arc reactor hole was filled in or covered over as it has thinner arms.

#2 looks like Joy Snyder's battle damaged sculpt. Hands down the best Max sculpt out there.
