Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09 (Thor cape coming soon!!)

no problem, :) I think you have to take the head off and get the back folded 1st, then pop the head on and it might hold the folds, didnt think about it till now so i havent tried it yet..hope you get it worked out, -Kyle

I've tried it. I've worked with it for hours and I've done everything I can think of with the exception of an alteration with glue or stitching. I'm afraid to ruin it by trying something like that. I had no idea there would be this much work involved with it. Based on the images and instructions, it seemed like a simple switch.

you can try tape or paperclips to hold the folds?

Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09 (Thor cape ready for order!)

I'm afraid to mess up the fabric. It doesn't seem to have a durable surface. I think I'm just going to have him back to the wall and re-think spending extra money to upgrade parts next time. I can barely afford this hobby as it is, it's just the '89 Keaton is a sentimental favorite and I really wasn't happy with the stock cape. Usually I look past any inconsistencies with HT items as they don't bother me as long as it's close, but the HT '89 cape was just terrible.

Hey Kyle..I need to get my post number up ...I have looked real close at this cape and I see where the problem is...Its the seams that are causing the cape to billow excessively at the back..not much you are going to do about it unfortunately...Tonys workmanship is top notch on this as far as overall construction goes...Its hard getting material to react the way you would want ..especially in 1\6 scale..If there was no seams it would hang a lot better but would not be movie accurate..although as a cheap alternative you could run stitch lines down the cape where they appear in the movie..may not look as good as real seams but what do you want here .there will always be trade offs when dealing with customs..at least sometimes..Tonys other capes look real good too

Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09 (Thor cape ready for order!)

I forgot to add..this doesn't solve the problem that redsox is having but in the off chance that Tony reads this...He should try doing a 2.0 version of this cape...Make it with no panels..just one piece of material...and sew stitch lines down the cape where they are on the real one..would look good I think...and I would buy one most likely...great for the returns fig..when ever that shows up

Very true Curtis, when it comes to 1/6 it's hard to get material to act as they would to a 1:1 scale. I still have to really sit down and tinker with this one day, look at Tony's proto pics and look at real life movie stills. Either way to me I like this cape cause it hugs the body nicely, I had difficulty getting the hot toys cape to do that, but I know your the cape master and I saw your video in how to do it :hi5:

Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09 (Thor cape ready for order!)

Hi Tony my Keaton Batman cape just arrived and I love it! Makes the figure look so much better and I managed to get a great pose after only a few minutes, a lot easier to manipulate than the official cape.

Were you able to get the look shown in the photos with the rippled back? If so, How'd you do it?

Not as good as Tonies poses but fairly close. I had the head almost attached but not fully clicked in. Then I got the look at the front the way I wanted it fairly easily. For the back I did the ripples as best I could squeezing the ripple quite tightly at the top of the cape and then tucking under the cowl part of the head.

When I was happy with it I fully clicked the head into place.I tried doing it without the head on first and it wasnt happening!

I also had to put it on display carefully, as when I tilted the figure slightly the ripples fell out and I had to start all over again. I tweaked the cape while it was in my detolf and then carefully turned it round.

Hope that helps :)

Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09

Sorry guys, Crystal and I have been extremely busy with work, and also crunching all the custom works for everyone. We didn't have as much free time as before able to show everyone all the tutorial pictures. Here is some Thor capes pictures, finally able to complete it. For those who already place your order, we will be ready to ship them out by this coming Wednesday. For those who wants the Thor capes, SORRY, we are not going to make them anymore..... each cape took us hours to make, we decide to stop producing them. Thank you all for understanding our situation :)

For those who were wondering how to take the Thor cape off....
- pop the head off
- pull the cape off..... thats it.....

Re: Custom Cape- DX12, DX09

Aw man!!! Bummer that cape looks so awesome! But, I wasn't going to buy one unless there was a Loki cape to go with it.

Totally understand, it's not at all worth your time to make them if it takes that much work/time.

On to the next project!
