Re: He's An Ugly Little Spud - Update - 12/28/15

I had a similar idea. You can find plenty of sixth scale food but the carts a bit difficult. The desk that comes with the workshop Tony from IM3 has a decent look. It even has the rollers at it's feet but would need a good deal of modding. Plus it's pricey.

Yeah, I have a spare one (See my Iron Man signature below and you'll spot several!) but they are way too big, in every direction, and not worth modifying.

So I have a fairly neutral positioning for the fingers. Just laying them out at the moment. I'll likely start the other hand soon and then finish them out around the same time. Would you all want a more aggressive look or is this fine?

awesome any idea on a price rage for the little guy ?

Re: He's An Ugly Little Spud - Update - 1/6/16

I'm debating that now. A previous Slimer custom sold for around two hundred unpainted. I'm thinking well under that for a raw cast and maybe a little over it depending on paint etc. I'll likely offer three options so you'll get to pick and choose what best suits you.

At the moment I'd say sometime in march or april. I don't really do this full time so it takes me a bit. I'll likely take deposits once the sculpts complete. Around that time I'll also do a complete breakdown of the options I'll offer.

A previous Slimer custom sold for around two hundred unpainted.

The Rocco one was $200 because it was articulated with ball joints.

I hesitated because even though Ski did a fantastic paint app, it just didn't do it for me. I think most of that was probably because Slimer is translucent in the film, which is near impossible to recreate without using special plastic etc.

Looking forward to seeing how this one turns out. :)

Re: He's An Ugly Little Spud - Update - 1/6/16

I've worked with clear plastics before. Anything cast in them becomes far less detailed due to the transparency. That's if you can keep thousands of little bubbles from forming in the resin. I'd love to do a couple that way but it's easily a few hundred bucks in equipment to get it right. Here were the results of a green lantern mask without:

problem with a translucent figure is that it looks like a toy 9 times out of 10 and slimer wasn't just see through, he was also kind of diffuse. So you either have to go the route of a more physically solid piece (like what most do) or get a see-through version but it will probably look more like a toy once it's finished.

I think a solid one with a good paint job is the way to go.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at, I just didn't explain myself properly.

What I was saying was that I understand translucent material won't likely work (I've seen the Matty version) but the paint app at the time didn't do it for me either. Which is why I'm glad someone else is having a go at it.

I was going to buy one direct from Rocco a while back because he still sells them, but I realised the problem of paint would be worse if I tried it!

From what I've seen so far, I prefer your sculpt too, Riggs.

There was another 1/6 Slimer sculpt where he was drinking from a bottle of wine - the wine then poured straight through him and onto the floor - that became the translucent red plastic stand.

Gotcha. Yeah, it's difficult to perfect. I think everyone will be pleased by the solid version really. There were a lot of details that were lost from suit to screen and you'll start seeing those come out in the sculpt soon. Pretty excited.

Re: He's An Ugly Little Spud - Update - 1/6/16

:clap I've got pictures of the original sculpt/puppet somewhere, so understand what you're getting at. Can't wait to see the final result!

I've already decided that if I get this, how I'll display it for maximum effect - Pepper's Ghost! :)

Count me in, Riggs! Love it!

Done!

That's what I'm working from. I also follow the original sculptor and have snagged a few pics there too. Pepper's Ghost is an awesome idea. I'll enjoy seeing what you do with that.
