I am not sure about that. I watched a lot of movies when I was a kid and it never did me any harm although The Thing did give me nightmares for many years after!

For the end of the movie at least you could just tell your kids to listen to Indy and keep their eyes closed. I did that a few times when I was younger. When I watched the original, and best, Clash of The Titans I would try and keep my eyes shut when I heard Medusa so she couldn't turn me to stone.

Not a bad idea, there's also Satipo getting it through the head and skeletons in the Well of souls are a bit gross too

How old is this kid? You're taking the best stuff out. :)

Unless he's in his teens he likely won't care for Indy... and if he's in his teens then you are worrying way too much.

I saw Raiders in the theatre back in '81 when I was 7, and the melting and exploding heads and ghosts didn't faze me. I came out of the theatre rolling, jumping and swinging a phantom whip, imagining I was going after the golden idol myself! As I've grown into adulthood, Raiders remains (and always will remain), one of my favourite (maybe even absolute favourite) film of all time. It's one of the most rewatchable movies out there. I've never gotten bored at any moment. Even the other Indy movies have a few moments here and there I tend to tune out of until it gets really good. But Raiders gives all the way from Paramount peak to warehouse credits.

My son just turned 7. Around 3 or 4, he had his favorite movies. Those were Jaws and Conan the Barbarian. At 5 he saw an Entertainment Earth catalog and wanted to know what that weird alien thing was....I then explained to him what a Xenomorph is and promised to show him the movie but only during for the day time since night was a bit iffy for that kind of film. Let’s just say he had the proper reaction at the chest bursting scene ?. B U T, he tried again a few weeks later and has now seen the movie plus the sequel many times.

I treat movies with him the way my parents always did with me. “You KNOW this isn’t real, right? It’s fake. Make believe. Nothing like this can happen. If you think it’s real and get scared or have nightmares, we can’t watch these anymore.” He gets it. Not all kids do, but I would recommend give your kid more credit, explain what’s going on, and let he/she decide if they’re ready. The quivering of my sons lip was kinda priceless during that scene, but I assured him it’s all make believe and his response was exactly how he should have reacted. Just my two cents.

The opening to Raiders is still the best opening to any movie I have ever seen. It is just perfect. I thought the film ran out of puff a bit after the truck chase, a bit like Indy himself, but it is a masterpiece regardless for me.

She's going for 4 so still very young, but I showed her TLC cause I didn't remember anything gross in it (Donovan aging and exploding was a bit more graphic than I remembered *lol*) and she's fallen in love with Indy and just wants to watch more Indy, new Indy.

4? And a girl? And loves Indy!? That's incredible. I like this new generation coming up already.

For gods sakes man, if she wants Indy, give her Indy.

Another fine example of this new generation.

Edit update: she made it right to the end, I tried to cover her eyes in the scary bits and she wouldn't let me and when it finished she said "I want to watch that again"

That's my girl *lol*

That is brilliant to hear. Kids have wonderful imaginations and films like this can't help but fire them up.

That is incredible. A 4 year old loving Raiders has got to be one of the best things I've heard. So many of my friend's kids didn't like that kind of movie until 10-12 at best. She will have an incredible imagination.

Is Temple of Doom next then? You have to share her reaction to that one if she watches it. Could she be asking for a hat and a whip at some point as well maybe?

.....and the 1st thing she asked for this morning when she woke up? "I want to watch Indy" :ROFLMAO:

Thanks for your support guys, appreciate it, I wasn't sure if she should watch it just yet but she seems to be really enjoying it, so yay !!

This is awesome. My daughter is 4. I can’t wait to show her the films but I feel like maybe I should wait a bit. Make sure she appreciates the film but if you’re daughter is digging it, I may have to plan a movie night.
