I see you didn't use the decals, is that because they were either too big or too small?

Believe it or not, I haven't been using my decals for a bit. Since I've gotten better at painting in general, I figured Id try painting eyes again. As for the hair, dark brown, dry brushed linen and brown with some gold.

Yep, I just worked on the eyes a bit (PS) compared to the Jnix original. As others have noted, the eye treatment is going to be the make or break on this paint up. The sculpt is solid.

It's a beautiful sculpt indeed, but the eyes are too big.
Your PS illustrates the optimal placement and size for the retina, but next to other figures it soon becomes apparent the retina is almost 1.5 x the usual size.
Reducing the retina size makes the eyes look floaty and lifeless, it's really tough trying to strike a happy medium, and I've tried the eyes all sizes, but I'm never fully content with them.

I think he based this a lot on the photo QuiGon posted above. They're not "resting" eyes - they're wide open, wistfull. The iris really needs to be almost full within the eye area. The sample that QuiGon did has them partially hidden under the upper lid, i don't think they can even be hidden that much to be the correct size. I think Jnix has done them correctly for the way they were sculpted.
