Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

I found a 3D model of Link and I downloaded it. With this you could 3D print out the parts to use for this link, like swords or whatever over at Shapeways. Also it can be done in any measurements so it can be 1/6. It would need to be made higher detail (by subdividing) so I can send the .obj file to anyone if they want. Just a suggestion if you need to source some parts like the sword/shield.

I think finding a right body is going to be a yes or no for whether I am in or not. I know Tony will do great on the clothes and the head shouldn't be too hard.

Im interested who you have in mind to sculpt.

Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

Hey gang, I'll update this in a little bit since I'm on my phone right now.

I can probably supply the sword and sheild. MR did a great 1/6 scale set which I happen to own. They are metal though and way to heavy so I'll have to simply use it as a base.

The look I think should be TP or skyward sword. Both have almost the same look, TP is more detailed and skyward sword is kind of streamlined. I have seen people use a metallic fabric to represent chain mail.

I know to be true 1/6 scale link would be a smaller figure. I personally would be okay with a regular sized 12" figure incase I plan on doing more characters in the future.

Glad the excitement is here!

I'd have no problem with a 12" figure either. While it is not a true 1/6 scale, I'm just hoping for Link for my collection.

Sideshow Hobbits were 9" and though Link would have a smaller stature/build than normal human but he's a far cry from being hobbit sized.

I think the Hot Toys slim body would be a fine representation of Link. The Wookster of OSW did a nice comparison review of the slim body when it was first released a few years back.

This body is also pretty commonly available and wouldn't require trying to source/cannibalize a scarce figure for a particular body. The newest version (TTM22) is available for pre-order most places for $50 or less.

Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

I think a slim is still too tall. His height was measured against the lakeside lab in OoT and he is roughly 4'11", lets say 5' which means we need an 11" figure max.

Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

What about Asian Muscular? Is the shoulder gonna be too wide? It is short right?

I vote for TP Link.

Anyway I just tought I'd share this for anyone that haven't seen it. Look cool and original.

If you still think the slim is a bit too tall you could take same height out of the body by shortening the shin area of the legs. Remove the ankle joints remove 1/4" or so of the shin and then re-attach the joints. You could do a bit of sanding/filling and some putty work if you want a nice smooth contour. It's already close 1/2" shorter than a regular Tt body so another 1/4-3/8" would put it closer to the scale your looking for.

I agree with several of the others that the Twilight Princess style is the way to go. It's basically a more refined, more realistic version of the OoT design. OoT is my favorite of the Zelda games but the design is a bit over simplified and though I hate to say it "cartoony" for its own good. I think with the resources and talent available to us we should try and go for the best detailed figure we can.

1/6 Link? Hey listen, count me in!

Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

So I think I've added everyone that has shown some interest. I've also changed the picture to a TP Link since that seems to be the one most of us like the most.

I can start talking to the leather worker tonight and see what his prices will be. He did holsters for us for the Max Payne project and IMO they came out great. I'll also start tinkering with the sword and sheild.

Next big step is someone for the clothes and a sculptor. What do you guys think?

Re: "The hero of time" from Legend of Zelda

Tony Meis would do great with the clothes. They'd be affordable too.
