Sometimes its not just the interest by people that makes a character being made. It is also interest of the artists to do something. Irrespective of the sales.
I believe this had a factor. Having seen the figure in person i can say unequivocally that the Dorothy figure is a thing of beauty. Its a real work of art. Its a shame not more were sold. Its going to command a hefty price on the secondary market once people outside of the know (this forum) find out it exists. I could see some ebay auctions going crazy as hardcore fans of the movie discover it.

she did look a very nice figure but would have looked really lost amongst my superhero's and killers lol

yea I just think that this 1/6 crowd is the wrong crowd for Oz. Of course its an iconic classic, but so are classic leading ladies like Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Ingred Bergman, Faye Dunaway etc, but I doubt all of them combined would outsell something like a breaking bad or upcoming game of thrones figure.

Agreed. Sadly, I doubt that several of my favorite all-time film characters just aren't hip or edgy enough to warrant nice, custom figures--even arguably the most iconic movie actor of all time Humphrey Bogart, which Denny had a thread for years ago that garnered very little interest. I wonder if even Scarecrow will be done if Dorothy is a bit of a flop, since it was essentially confirmed beforehand, but probably based on certain sales expectations.

Unfortunately true. Although it was not perfect, I still kick myself for not picking up RM's Rome 1953 figure.

And I also agree on the bit that Django is pretty much a flavour of the month like movie. Not even close to being ironic. It would sell best on the hype factor... not that they wont sell at all if released late, but deal is as the years will go by the film will really not be a 'cult' film per se as say other Tarantino releases...

Well apparently the Kill Bill figures sold OK, and I would consider Django on par with it in terms of its quality and likelihood of having staying power years down the road. I personally enjoy nearly all the QT movies, but don't think any of them will have huge staying power apart from Pulp Fiction and maybe Reservoir Dogs, because they were both so original, and important to pop culture and what has happened in the film industry.

I think Kill Bill is actually better than Django, and I actually dont like Kill Bill. Deal is since Reservioir and Pulp I see every Tarantino film as the same story being rehashed again with a different setting, more cameos, and more outrageous kills. Oddly Michael Bay'ish :lol

Jackie Brown was actually a pretty low key change of pace. But it didn't have the impact that the others did, probably in part because it wasn't as outlandish and over the top.

I think he's pretty much done with a good plot... Nowdays all he needs to do is take good star actors, put them in outrageous situations. Make vengeance the motive, lots of ketchup, slo-mos, and more kills. His brand name and reputation sells it. People go to watch his films for the zany comedy and he always ropes in the actors who portray their characters extremely well.

Quentin is an amazing writer no question. His stories and direction is repetitive for sure but he also does what he does so well and you can always count on his films to be entertaining.

Also, lots of folks are hardcore Tarantino fans, I would totally not agree django is a flavour of the month. It's gonna go down as one of his best, most entertaining, and culturally impact fulfills I think. It was his best performer at the box office, won him and christoph oscars, and had the world talking all year.

Not to mention the whole enterbay fiasco and how many people we're clamouring for that release. This license is a bona fide gold mine.

Couldn't agree more. Django is one of quentin best for sure.. one movie that I will remembered for long time!!

Well in that case Michael Bay shouldnt have all that kind of criticism, considering he too is pretty much popcorn entertainment... I always considered Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs his best. Actually I like Reservoir Dogs a bit more... but if you say Django is one of his best, that for me it means I have to put it in the same bracket as those two... Which is pretty ugh! I find it as a situation similar to Wolf of Wall Street. Lot of hype in its release time, lot of accolades too. But honestly, not THAT good as the film maker's best. Same with Inception.

In Django I found the strongest performers to be Schultz and Candie... not the title character.

EXACTLY how i felt too while watching the film!

I hate to sound like a copycat but when they died I lost total interest, Quinton's cameo brought a smile to my face but I was pretty sure what was going to happen after that, in true Quinton style of "the revenge". I wish my friend the Dentist have lived, he was such a good man, totally different from Inglorious Bastards......
