Hi guys!

For a while, things were looking gloomy, but I am pleased to announce that the 3D model/sculpt that I made of the original '87 Predator is being printed TODAY!

Here are the 3D images (ignore the pedestal, this will be removed from the actual casts; it has just been added to make sure it's capable of standing on its own as it's being 3D printed).






Print images will be available within the next 3 days!!!! I am super excited to finally see this project coming together!

Because it's been such a long time since I initially started working on this, and I wanted to (re)confirm interest and start the official list, I decided to make this new thread.

I am limiting the run of this headsculpt to 20 pieces. No deposit required, just pay in full once I have the actual HS ready to ship :)

Raw/unpainted heads will cost $90 + shipping.

Never noticed, but are the lower mandibles suppose to lean to the left like that?

They do lean more to the left in the facial expression that I was going for/basing most of the sculpt off of:

they do lean to the left a little :) It's way more interesting this way than if they were straight or perfectly symmetrical :)

Hey Ralph - great sculpt man - how did you cut it up for casting? Did you do it like Hot Toys?

Also wondering what options you have for the dreds.

The mandibles are going to be cast seperately and then attached afterwards. I'll be cutting them off of the 3D print once I receive it (since they can be printed on the actual sculpt; casting would be difficult).

Drum roll!!!



Alright guys! Here's the print directly after printing. Quite frankly, it looks like crap :p That's because he's covered in a ton of extra rafts/support material. They're very easily removed though.



Rest assured, that nice 3D sculpt is neatly tucked away under there and it is every bit as detailed, it's just hard to tell cause of all the extra gunk. It also doesn't really help that the material is semi-translucent, but from my experience, I can tell that this is going to be awesome! Overall, it took nearly 8 hours to print!!!

Tomorrow, I'll clean him up, and give him a nice coat of grey primer so you can see the sculpt better. I'll also take some shots of the sculpts size in comparisson to the HT Classic's head. I already held them together briefly and am very happy with the size.

That's weird, trying to wrap my head around what's sculpt and what's not. I'd live to see a few pics of removing the excess just to know.
 
You'll see :) Again, it also doesn't help that the material is semi-transparent.

Pretty much anything that looks bubbly on the cranium is support material, that's why it looks so rough and peach-fuzzy. It actually washes right off and consists of lots of smaller plastic strands.

The most obvious support structures are in the mouth, under the chin and around the mandibles. These are larger and more honeycombed in shape, and they literally snap off.

It's a strange, but necessary evil when dealing with 3D printing :) I'll upload a few pics of me working on it, and a before and after priming shot. Pics will be up more than likely early Friday :)
