Problem with him, is there are some really exceptional Depps from HT that would need to be met for it not to catch a **** storm about accuracy. Knowing what is possible makes for a challenging project. The DX13 set a bar and if the accuracy isn't at least met, all will be seen as inferior from here on for Arnie heads.

:lecture The pressure for Rainman to capture the Depp likeness as well as Hottoys already has might be somthing he wouldn't want to deal with.

Very true but I think that the expectations have been set by the evolution of the hobby overall and not only by some killer sculpts previously done of a specific actor. Whether an actor/character has been done to death or RM is the first to touch it, I think the expectations for likeness will always be present. Maybe not to the same degree if a high bar has already been set on an actor/character, but the expectations for a good likeness will be there with every release.

Many times RM’s style seems to get in the way of achieving that level of likeness. I wonder how things will change within his fan base if the hobby continues to move in this greater photo realistic direction and he doesn’t evolve with it.

I vote Raoul Duke. Bring on the accessories, we don't need all of them and it leaves it open for people to custom extra ones!

I have total faith Rainman could nail Depp in Fear and Loathing. The HT Depps are amazing clearly, but they do not look like Duke at all - I would be surprised if someone could custom one to look correct. I say - bring it on. Duke over Torrance, but I would be overwhelmed if he announced either of them.

touché! haha - But you know what I mean. The accessory list is endless for this figure, what I mean is just because he has so many possible accessories should not hinder the possibility of him being done! I want Duke more than anyyythhinnggg. ray:

It would be awesome if RM continued this tradition of an annual SDX. Duke wouldn't be done properly at the $820 price point; too many essentials wouldn't make the cut. I don't think that Duke done to the max would cost as much as the Bickle DFS because it wouldn't be 2 full separate outfits and 2 totally different sculpts, but there's no way RM would do an accessory heavy character like that for the standard price. Sunglasses, fly swatter, typewriter, drink, drug case, cig & holder, watch, bracelet... I think I'm missing something....

Three standard sets (3-4 accessories), maybe one of which could be a DX and one annual SDX would be a nice round year of goodies from The Man

If RM does come through with Duke, it would be my first from him and its the only one I would ever drop such a large sum on. However, I'm not with the notion of making Duke an annual SDX and pricing it at upwards of $1200.

Just thinking out loud here but, the outfits I assume wouldn't be that much of a challenge (in terms of pricing) considering the PF suits and Dork clothes were done in like $410. Duke's outfits are more like 2 sets of dork clothing with the exception of his jacket - So it does take the load off the tailor to a great extent. Maybe those resources could be redirected to the accessories. The only complexity involved here that I can think of would be the typewriter and the glasses.

Typewriter wouldn't be that hard. It is perfect for Rainman. Lots of detail but still able to be cast. Glasses also given he has done the Bickles.

I don't want to talk against the guys who see this differently, but I really hope to not see a budget Duke. This is an accessory heavy character that is full of necessities. I'd hate to see this skimped and not done to the fullest. There are plenty of characters out there that fit the 3-4 accessory/$820 format; Duke is definitely not one of them. I was just listing obvious accessories but I'd even say that he calls for a second sculpt; possibly a bald with green visor but definitely 2 different zany expressions

I'm all for this - if it's in the cards. Duke is the type of character I would be willing to drop some serious coin into to have it perfect, It would also be my first full set or dx purchase from RM.

I think the hobby already has started to move in the more photo real direction. Look at Iminime's recent work even without Grove they're producing amazingly real sculpts. Let's hope RM can keep up.

Torrance will be an interesting one if it's attempted. The likeness if vital for that character due to his outfit not being very interesting.
I'd love to see two sculpts also.

I have to say, I'm not really all that impressed with the quality of Iminime figures compared to that of Rainmans. I am a dedicated fan of the man's work, but there's a special quality with his figures that quite frankely Iminime can't compare to and I own several new release iminime figures, but to each their own I guess.
