I think it takes away from the realism and certain illusions that good poses or a nice set-up can create. I only use them in a few rare cases where a fig can't stand well on its own. I like the ones that are like mini-dios, but even then I can't stand the plaques on them.

I posted my completed AoU set up in this thread. To me, displays like this look a lot better without stands:

I see clearly what you mean. I have been going back n forth on how to set up my figures. With bases or without bases. Go with a simple and small dio bases or go big. Ugh! And when I saw your comment, I jumped on the chance to pick your brain about it. And honestly what you said really do make sense. It's helping me to make up my mind. Not being able to make up my mind or make a simple decision is one of the cons for being a woman! :lol
