Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

I'm totally interested!! Put me on the list already.

But one question:
The head, be prepared to stick hair, or hair is sculpted??
I prefer paste / attach the hair and you?

this is my custom I did some years. I prefer hairy.
this clothing is easy to do. I need a good job of head & hands sculpture

Cool custom! My preference is sculpted hair here. I think it's too much hair to do the option of gluing "real" hair on, it's styled in a very particular way on this character, and it would need to look naturally attached to his face, so it would be hard not to screw it up/make it look wonky if we try to do this ourselves. If it was just a simplistic wig like Pennywise I think it would be more feasible. It would be hard to get it to fall right, and I think aesthetically, we are more likely to get a really nice product if it is fully sculpted. This is why I'm not advocating the basketball look for this guy.

A fully "furred" version would be great, but unless someone like Beto decides they want to take on that task of doing a high quality, full figure, I think more casual custom dabblers would be better served with just a fully sculpted head and hands.

Having said that, if we do get the hair and you have the custom skills to try the "real" hair, then I imagine you would also have the skills to just dremel the sculpted hair off and go to town!

Word. Obviously, it's not a timeless cinematic masterpiece, as it is very much a movie of the '80s. But I think it is a big part of its charm. Also, this movie was like some other successful comedy/horror movies of the time (Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, Monster Squad, Gremlins, Goonies) in that it was fun and funny, but punctuated by some pretty freaky and scary sequences. There is a real appeal to that.

How about a DX with the 'guy with unzipped pants' from the end of the movie? :D

Added you GB :rock

I also added more pics of him in different outfits. He actually wore quite a number of different things in wolf form in the film. Some of them should be extremely easy to bash. When he first turns, he's just wearing a blue shirt with a gray t-shirt underneath, and khakis. He's got the outfit he wore on top of the car (blue jacket, plaid shirt, black t-shirt, jeans), when he wears the varsity jacket he wears both jeans and some gray slacks in different scenes, he's got the Civil War costume from the play, when he bowls he wears a flannel shirt and some faded gray jeans, then there's the white suit at the prom. He seems to wear those white Adidas throughout apart from when he's wearing the white suit. I've also got more reference pics for expressions that I can post when Rocco gets closer to sculpting this, if he agrees to do it.

Good post, Kara. All those movies you mentioned were BIG for me when I was a kid, still are. I remember I had a VHS tape with Teen Wolf,Goonies and Gremlins on it. I watched that thing constantly. We had this big ugly silver VCR. :lol
We had all kinds of stuff taped. That's how I got into horror. We had Friday the 13th 1-3 on one tape that I pinched one night and watched.

This definitely seems up your alley gary! :rock

Yeah, I had a couple of those on Betamax. I don't know much about kids movies nowadays, but I don't get the impression they are getting the kinds of movies we had back in the '80s. Admittedly, they are getting some stuff that is way better than what '80s kids got, like the Pixar stuff. But I wonder if even something like ET and Raiders of the Lost Ark would be seen as too scary or edgy for kids today.

By the way, Rocco said he will do this if we get to 15, and we're 4 away from that goal, so tell your pals to stop by and show interest!

The interesting thing about those movies above, especially Ghostbusters, Gremlins and Beetljuice, they walk a fine line between adult movie and kids movie. They all have things kids love and want to see but have bawdy themes for adults. And you can tell this do to the the toned down nature of some of the sequels, Ghostbusters most notably. They were lighting up every 30 seconds in the original. :lol

Another question, how are we gonna have the hands sculpted? I think I'd want something a little more interesting that relaxed but then again anything too scene specific will limit posing options. What do you guys think?

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

half open palms for easy grabbing of basketball maybe?

Added you fellas. Two more to go!

Yeah, Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice were definitely adult movies first, yet they were definitely also marketed to kids (both had a corresponding cartoon series and toy lines). I guess the equivalent nowadays are the comic book movies like Avengers and Dark Knight. Some movies like Star Trek have toys, but I don't imagine too many 8-12 year olds getting into them. Could be there is stuff out there I'm just not paying attention to, though.

Yeah, I could go for something a bit more interesting than just relaxed palms. Maybe something like Beto's Beetlejuice hands, which could be used for a menacing pose (like Predator), a casual pose, a joyful, Beetlejuice kind of pose (throwing them up in the air), or even holding a basketball:

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Hmm, not bad. Or maybe and open palm with some thing like this?

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Agreed... some kind of open/gesturing hand would be ideal. Not completely relaxed, fists or an obvious trigger.
