Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

have we decided on what the facial expression will be for Teen Wolf yet?...before rocco goes with this....i want to make aure we all agree on how we would want him to look....also...when he does start....can we get WIP shots...?

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Rocco doesn't usually do WIP shots, but he has revised sculpts slightly if there was a consensus issue with something. I've got several expression shots, and was waiting until this was confirmed to post, but I guess it doesn't hurt to be a bit presumptuous here. What do you guys think?

1) Smirk 1 (probably my favorite--would need to envision this without the sunglasses):

2) Smirk 2:

3) Big smile:

4) Pissed off 1:

5) Pissed off 2:

6) Inquisitive/Surprised:

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

I think smirk 1 would be my preference... mean would be a second, but I tend to think of Teen Wolf as more cocky than aggressive.

Not interested in inquisitive or smiling.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Yeah, I'm feeling the same way. A smirk-type expression would be my first choice, but an aggressive look would also work for me. Those canine teeth need to show though, either way.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Smirk 1 all the way, guys. I dig the angry expression but I would not want it as my only look for Teen Wolf.

I think a smirk is a more universal look for him and if you included gesturing hands you can get a lot of great looks.

Snarling/angry is a lot more limiting.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

i like the smirking one...the first pic....i definitely want to see teeth...

will this be sculpted hair or bald for hairing?

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

I made an argument earlier in the thread for the sculpted hair. If it was bald, unlike characters that require a basic wig, I think it would be a huge undertaking to get right, and would put people off on buying.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

I big NO to real hair. Sculpted is the way to go.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

WOW....in my MANY years on this earth,...i actually NEVER knew that there was an actual video for that song!!!...i have always seen the rocky version and just took it as that being the only one made...these guys look like a bunch of dorks...LOL.....who knew that they would bring one of the most iconic songs this and last century!?!?!

Smirk option 1.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Smirk one and sculpted hair for me.

Did anyone else have a crush on Boof?

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

I'd also agree with sculpted hair... one option with that is if you want to you can always add small pieces of faux fur to the wrists and tips of some of the facial hair to give it a more realistic look. I've not personally done this, but seen it work well with some of the Joker customs and I know Seb's done it on a few figures.

Even though it was a pre-pubescent crush, I did indeed.

Yes.

Good idea. That might actually work. It looks fantastic on the Joker sculpts. But it is worth mentioning that the Joker head that have both sculpted and real hair the sculpted hair is minimal. It's mainly for the roots as real hair used to make a hair line looks unnatural and too thick. Either way I'm sure it can be done.

Re: Teen Wolf (1985 version) by Rocco Interest Thread

Yeah, it may not work... but I think if there are few strands/small clumps of hair that start on the sculpt and hang off of it it could work to give the illusion of the sculpted hair transitioning into the non-sculpted.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a few do it, but I'm not able to recall any figures except for Jokers. When Les Walker did his I think the hair was still primariliy sculpted, not just the roots and he added minimal "real hair" yet it still looked pretty convincing.

Awesome project!!!
Might bite!
I already have some experience in applying "Wolf's" hair :lol

I have a suggestion, as that's how I did my original custom Thriller Werecat...
It had sculpted hair and I added the real hair on top of it on thin layers, and it worked perfectly! ;)
It's not that hard to do it this way, you just have to be patient, because it does take a lot of time...

Here's the sculpt I used before paint:

That looks good Kuzeh! There are a number of similarities between Thriller Cat and Teen Wolf. Are you still working on that project with Beto?
