Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

Just installed our custom black Chian
DSC06806640x360.jpg

our chain is much thicker and shinier than the original Sideshow. (left-Sideshow, Right our custom)
DSC06814640x360.jpg

Custom wiring inside, allow the cape to stay on and still show the Chain hanging down naturally
DSC06807640x360.jpg

Here is the question to all Vader fan, does everyone like the collar to be shown out side of the helmet or hidden inside (either way works well with our cape)

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

The chain should be hidden for an ANH Vader.

And PM sent on the combined robes and cape :duff

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

The point is that you know it's there :lol

Kind of pointless... but still to not have the chain would probably bug people :lol

Ok, in the spirit of accuracy, I just got done reviewing ANH; the chain is visible up through the infamous Antilles choking scene; once on the Death Star, its no longer visible - during the lightsaber scene its trying to poke thru, but mostly hidden

So i guess its visible, about what, 25% of the movie?

When its visible, its snug right against the mask.

Seems like they made a 'correction' during filming of the movie itself

BTW, very nice custom job - glad I am in for both - I like the chain - just make it taunt and its really up to personal choice if displayed or not since both are correct

Great information, now Crystal and I have to re-watch all 3 movie again. Any picture you can offer to show?

Here is one I found:

ltjir2.jpg

A little hard to see - the the chain is going across the base of the mask/throat area

Its really obvious in the movie, as there are several close ups; once at the Death star and beyond, no chain

This is what it looks like in the close up in the movie:

Full disclosure: that 2nd pic aint mine! LOL - not sure if this is the movie prop or an excellent fan recreation, but that's kinda how it looked to me.

Hmm.... The first looks great, but hard to see. Our custom cape has wiring inside, so it allows the chain to hang a bit n not scratches the neck part of the helmet.

The second picture...:slap if that's what the original chain looks like....., it's either.... Or....., I might like my chain just a bit more. But the length of the chain is definitely something that can be adjusted. If there are any more pictures to be shared, please do.

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

Yeah, the chain is really subtle - that 2nd pic is a lot more obvious looking than the movie. I think your chain is absolutely fine for this purpose in every way.
To be honest, I am not 100% sure what that 2nd pic was - it looks great, but doesn't look like the actual movie prop - eyes don't look red enough, but cool shot whatever it is

Found a really good one:

Click on the 2nd to get a larger version of same image

Thats as good as I get, LOL

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

I'm a moderator on a movie picture website that has official photos and stills from movies. I've had a look and these were the best ones that I found.

Star Wars:

Star Wars return of the jedi:

Half way through Star Wars the chain does disappear and in the Empire Strikes Back he doesn't seem to have one at all.

Hope that helps

hmm... okay. after looking at these two picture I can pretty much say they are not chain at all. they are just some form of chain shape. The question is....

1. which one does everyone desire to have? the long or short chain? Because these two picture simply shows a dramatic difference in size.

2. to make it more movie accurate, I'm going to add the leather like part around the neck.

3. Another note, we found some picture where the cape hidden inside the neck, but these picture above is around the side of the helmet neck. What does everyone prefer? Was it just bad quality from the past, they couldn't stick with one way?

4. many people have told me they have mod and shorten the figure. We would like to know exactly how much shorter so we can have an idea to offer custom shorter cape and Robe. Our cape and robe are design for the factory Vader from Sideshow.
These picture definitely help out a lot, more picture the better it is. Let do this right the first time before we start making it.

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

Awesome pic, Thanatos - thanks

Since this is the ANH version of the cape I'd say short chain, myself! My vader is factory height too. Maybe somebody knows why ANH has chain and no chain. Maybe it bugged Prowse during filming or George Lucas liked it better one way or another.....

That 2nd pic is from the 3rd movie

Re: TonyMeis Custom 1/6 Vader outfit

And to be fair, the no chain look was how he appeared in most of film. BTW, could the guard in the background look less impressed?!?! Didn't he know he was in a classic sci fi movie? LOL
