Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

The TTM21 is the same size as the narrow. Why do people think the advanced is this "jacked" up body? :lol

If anything, think of it as the new and improved narrow. :exactly:

So... Wait... the ttm18 is the same as the ttm21!?

You can say that. It's a completely different body but the sizes are the same. The only difference I would say are the shoulders and biceps. They're slightly bigger. The TTM21 has a better chest. For some reason just because it has a six pack, people think it's a bigger body. But it's not. :lol

To each their own I guess. :)

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

Seems like the idea from the beginning was to make the TTM-21 is the "new and improved" TTM-01, not the TTM-18 (the TTM-21 was originally the TTM-15). Shoulders and biceps are definitely bigger on the TTM-21, more suited to the kinds of soldier bodies that Hot Toys focused on early on.

I just thought it was bigger cause the biceps and chest are a tad bigger. TTM21 it is! Speaking of which, how's the shipping date coming along?

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

i know its tailored to a 21, but theres no way Ill be using that body for plainview, way way too bulky. Ill be going for a standard narrow shoulder, or perhaps a mod of some kind using slim TT arms. I can't have DDL using the same body as Vincent Vega!

Goodpost I will be doing the same thing here .

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

the 21 is considerably more bulky, most obviously in the shoulders and arms. I agree the chest is narrower, but also burlier. At the very least to achieve a fairly accurate proportion, you'll have to swap the arms to the slim shoulder TT ( I still for the life of me can't and dont want to memorize TT numbers lol)

I don't blame shorty on yunsil for going for this body as its the newest standard release from HT, but standard is never satisfactory in the customs game. Finagling a proper body is an essential and super fun part of throwing a top notch custom together!

For those playing at home, here's a couple pics... TTM18 on left (Star Wars) TTM21 on right (TWBB).

Definitely notable differences particularly in the arms worth discussing for Plainview, but is it too much...?
TTM21 is definitely the nicer made body and has much nicer movement. I'm siding with ShortRound with this one.

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

How do you mean it has nicer movement? The articulation is the same (38 points of articulation). Quality has seemed comparable to me if you bought those official HT bodies over the last several series. The more sculpted forearms are nice, though, if your figure isn't wearing long sleeves.

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

It's really just preference. As you can see they're practically the same size. The chest is what really bothers me on the TTM18. It doesn't fill the upper chest area in a suit as well as a 21 does.

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

Then you stuff it! :lol

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

Suit looks like a good alternative for the extra unhatted head.

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

As for the status of the suits. Yunsil is on vacation until tomorrow. So I'll be emailing her again the 20th. Hopefully they'll be done and shipped to me soon. :yess:

Wasn't expecting to receive an improved prototype. This is just fantastic. All suggestions that were brought up, have been made.

Newly shaped lapels

Shorter shirt collar

Top vest pockets with improved chain and pendant

Wow, just catching up to this. Great improvements! The jacket lapels look bang on and how in the hell did she get that accurate pendant?!?! :rock However I'm not a fan of the shorter shirt collar because as I mentioned earlier, even though the longer one isn't accurate, I think that's more of a 1/6 tailoring trick to make it lay naturally. The short collars tend to pop up and look bad. Maybe we should stick to the longer ones? What do you guys think?

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

As far as the body talk goes, there are pros and cons to both. Hector is right to a point when he said that the 18 is dated and that's why the 15/21 took it's place as the "average build" because it has better proportions in certain areas. The 18 has long forearms which can make it appear monkey-ish. Also, it is very straight and flat from shoulder to shoulder and usually requires padding on the top of the shoulders to give it a more natural slope and not appear "square" or "boxy"; the flatness also sometimes creates "giraffe neck" and padding the shoulders helps to combat that. They fixed the long forearm and shoulder slope issues on the 15/21 so in that sense it's an improvement, but the shoulders and upper arms are significantly bigger than the Narrows. I say significantly because most times in this scale it's a game of fractions of an inch, sometimes mm's. So while the new Advanced is an overall improvement, I think that the old Narrows still serve certain purposes.

The problem is it's not an across the board type thing and more a case to case deal. I guess it really boils down to the tailoring, the type of fabric being used and the type of outfit that it is. For example, HT Banner and Walt in Yunsil's SMN outfit look great on the 21 (Banner may be slightly buff) but anyone who has RM Bill V2 would probably agree that the 18 arms are perfect for the Butcher and that 21 arms would have been too bulky. Why is that? IDK but the sum of the two layers of clothing plus the fitted sleeve equal a look that is fitting for Bill's physique. I think that the looser nature of Plainview's suit will look fine with the 21 though. The bulkier arm won't be noticeable inside of the looser sleeve and because of the nature of the fit it'll probably look more natural when the arm is bent.

Double sided tape underneath the shorter collar to keep the lapels flat, possibly if they do curl up a bit? Ive noticed that on the original RM set and it always bugged me that some people never bothered to futz them to lay naturally.

Re: [YUNSIL]Daniel Plainview charcoal suit outfit (NEW/IMPROVED PROTOTYPE/SHIPPING SO

Suits will be shipped to me next week. :yess:

I'll start getting shipping quotes. Just so people are aware, shipping with tracking is very expensive for international orders. I'll send prices for with and without tracking. All domestic orders will have one flat priority shipping rate. Around $6 I think.
