Does anyone know if there's a way to take a cast of the 1/4 turtles and scale them down to 1/6? Even if it had to lose articulation and just be a statue it would be worth it.

Unfortunately probably not. There are some weird types of mold making materials out there that you can cast in and then they shrink a certain percentage over time, but the shrink percentage is a set number and may not match what you would need to shrink down from 1/4-1/6. Here is a link to an example of this type of material: https://www.industrialpolymers.com/hydrospan/hydrospan-400

You can also manipulate your mold making materials using special solvents to cause shrinkage of your mold. The process is super involved and you have to work very quickly, however. Here is a link to an example of this type of process: https://www.smooth-on.com/support/faq/155/

However, beyond the difficulties in actually shrinking something like this is the practicality of such an endeavor. You're are talking about molding and making copies of an articulated, multipart action figure. You can't just cover it in silicone and expect to be able to cleanly remove the original and cast copies. That silicone or whatever mold making material you use will find its way into every crease, crevice, and opening of the figure, making it impossible to demold without destroying both the mold and potentially the action figure in the process.

I agree with you, the 1:4 scale NECA figures are simply spectacular, but I wouldn't get your hopes up about the possibility of making copies easily:(.

In regards to shrinking from 1/4 to 1/6, its been done before. The one that sticks most prominently in my memory is the Premium Format Indy sculpt.

I have meeting on Monday about these. Ill let you know guys know how it goes. Im testing the waters with the Turtles with plans for some other fun figures. Fingers crossed.

Sounds good Robbie, hope the meeting goes well. Look forward to the next update.

that would be cool. I like those neca turtles. if they could be made into 1/6 I might get them. make them into the classic 80 style turtles.

I talked to Neca at SDCC about 1/6 turtles and they said it's not happening, so Robbie, you're our guy!
