So here is where we are currently. First thing is we are not going to scan and shrink the NECA turtles like this thread suggests. We both feel this is stealing and unethical. Some may disagree and that's ok but what we are planning is producing fully pose-able figures using mixed media for the accessories. We will use NECA's as reference but we will also be taking directly from the film. Paul (my partner) is working on the sculpt for the body as we speak and I am acting as a sort of supervisor because 1:6 is my area more than his. We both will work on the casting of the parts and I will be painting and making the accessories. All accessories will be the real materials, like wood, leather, and steal. The bodies will be silicone with semi-flexible material for the shells, heads, feet and hands. Again, straps and stuff will be leather and mixed media. Think stop motion puppets. Well there you go. These wont be for everybody, but those that know my work should know what to expect.

I'm very much looking forward to following the progress of this! It's definitely outside of the range of what I'm willing to pay for my figures, but I have no doubt the outcome will be amazing, and worth it for all of you who will get one. :)

The NECA Leo is an amazing figure, and works nicely as a stand alone piece as well. Using it for inspiration makes perfect sense.

Great news. When tackling the turtles they are done in pairs, meaning that Don and Raph are fairly similar, with similar rough shells and patterns, and head shape, and Leo and Mikey being similar in the more smooth shell with a different pattern - different amount of panels, as well as more rounded heads.

The Raph/Don style on the left and the Leo/Mikey on the right

The right one is an approximation created through mirroring the shot, so not a perfect shot of that kind of shell, but it shows the pattern style.

The Neca figures look fantastic, but I feel their surface details - the round dents - are a little too large and deep.

There is a guy on the replica prop forum who owns some of the screen used weapons. And Tom Spina restored an original Turtles costume - it is listed as a Leonardo, but it seems to have mixed parts (shell is definitely Raph).

Accessories for Raph could be the hat and trench coat.

Apologies for the bump but I was wondering if there had been any progress on this project? 1/6 1990s movie turtles are the dream! 😄

NECA does 1:10 and 1:4 these days - presumably on account of most people who truly want 1:6 being collectors of Hot Toys - and not enough of those same people needing figures of the particular licenses NECA has. The last 1:6 they did was possibly the T2 Pescadero T-800 but I never paid much attention to other lines.
