Payment sent - will it be possible to make these half an inch taller, so they can fit more natural under his armpit ;)

For whatever it's worth, Action Man crutches are exactly 8.5 inches in length. Real crutches are supposed to be adjusted so that they are lower than the armpits, and the patient is not supposed to rest his weight on the crutches.

There does,nt seam any logic in that . why would they make crutches that does,nt suppose to support your weight, while learning under your armpit..

your not making any difference in the crutches or normal walking sticks the way your using them, they are both doing the same purpose, which is wrong.

Punishment1218 has been kind enough to extend my pair for me, which i thanks him in doing so...

also if you see the pic of hersal on page one you will see that if his crutches where diretly in the upwards posstion and not spread to the side .they be right under his armpt..which is correct..

This is correct. The crutches need to be lower than the patients arm pits for the patient to lean on to them. If they went from floor to the arm pit they would be unusable. In the pic Hershel is clearly leaning slightly forward on to the crutches. Just lean the figure onto them.

Well, hotslayer, sounds like you've never had to use crutches. I do hope your luck holds! I've had to use them a couple of times, and will again this summer. They're not meant to support your weight. Just to help with your balance. When you lose a leg (two people close to me have endured this), you get a prosthethic that will bear weight, and if you can't adapt to it, you get a wheelchair. If you use crutches to support your weight, over time you will develop nerve damage. Lots of intricate parts traversing your armpits, y'see. The characters on the show are making do with what they've got.

Edit: Maisto beat me to it. I've got to say, whenever I've used crutches I've wanted to use them the way Hershal is. It's hard to use them without putting your weight on them!

Hey Punishment,

As per our PM, I would be interested in a set. Shoot me back a PM with details of how and when to pay.

Thanks

Sorry Billy. Im having major issues with my post office getting these out, and Im issuing refunds to people who havent gotten them. So, until I get this straightened out, these wont be available. This whole thing with this redneck post office and their customs reporting has been a nightmare.

i sent payment for 3 sets. never got them??

if anybody got them please post, i would think the post cant lose them all!!

I got mine. I hadn't wanted to post because the welds on one broke in the mail. It's tough to try to keep the welds small so it doesn't look like a toy. I have a small welding tool somewhere in the garage so I expect I'll be able to fix it. The shape of the crutches is perfect and the arm pads and tip nicely done. They don't have hand grips as pictured in post #1. Sorry to hear they're not getting through to people, but at least the Herschel head isn't even on the horizon...plenty of time.
