We are going to forgo the additional wire down the front to keep the cost down and so this can drape naturally.

The majority seem to not want the wire. If there is a huge group on the run that are vocal about having the front wire We will re look at it. So if you really want the wire please let me know.

For some reason it's not letting me edit my original post,
One of the mods disabled the ability to edit posts back in September (maybe even earlier but no one probably noticed) mentioning that they were “working on something” and didn’t want posts changing and/or disappearing. I wonder if the mod themselves just completely forgot to turn the feature back on🤔

Has there been a talk of the pattern being used for the cloak?

After noticing more of the small details on the cloak (like the stitching around the hood plus a couple other things), just curious how accurate 2ouble8ight is going with this one.

No updates as of yet. I figured once the list is closed I will reach out to 2double8ight to let him know we've reached 50 and we can move from there.

I have given him several screen grabs from the Fellowship 4K so he does have pics of the small details like the stitching around the hood for example. He was also searching for the correct type and color of fabric. I can share with the group when he shows me what he has sourced.

Sounds good. You totally may have already seen these details already but I’d rather mention before rather than after the fact.

A couple other details I noticed are the back panel of the cloak has at least one center pleat (maybe one at each shoulder). Also the “over-the-shoulder” panels may have a split at each side:

Having these cuts in the over-the-shoulder panels would help not only cut down on fabric being using (which means a better drape) but also leaves the back panel to fall naturally without being pulled when Aragon crosses his arms.

From a practical perspective having these cuts would also allow a natural walking stride. Think about wrapping a blanket around you and trying to walk. More easy if the black had slits at each side. All of this means more effective posing capabilities and accuracy level.

Only wanted to share my two cents before any patterns were drawn-up. Hard to confirm any of this. So take it all with a grain of salt, haha.

Thank you for this observation. I will pass it along to 2double8ight. 🍻

Doing research I have found a tailor that does 1:1 replication for cosplay of the Aragorn/Strider look. Here are some of the different color fabric they have found to best match the Ranger Cloak.

I'm leaning heavily on #2 as the best match. My question is do you guys want "Screen Accuracy" versus "Prop accuracy?" The true color of the cloak is a grey/green. But with film filters it comes off more a dark grey.

I'm still searching for images of the screen worn cloak that more production photos, but I can't seem to find any. A lot more stuff on the Elven cloak than the Ranger.
