Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

Painted up a few of the accessories and almost finiished the laces on one of the shoes.

Also got something going for those getting this particular item from me...[emoji16]

Oh, and the book, magazine, and decals are being made soon, and I hope to have them in a week or two. Once I have those all pricing information will become available!

A little more. VERY temporary bench setup but just testing out dimensions and whatnot...

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

Nice work Doc! The shoes look a bit oversize per your last pic above, however.

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

Put the shoes next to another pair of shoes for size comparison.

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

It’s probably just perception and the fact the body doesn’t have clothes on it’s hard to read.

Yeah I think the perspective isn't great plus the naked body. I compared them to some other shoes I have/made. They are probably a tad larger but I think they look fine. I'll try and get a clothed shot but I don't have lots of extra clothes lying around!

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

And hey, regarding the size... just talked to my caster. If in the end we feel the shoes are a bit oversized he can shrink them down before casting the whole run, so no worries!

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

Bench is off to a nice start.
Thanks. The wood slats are 100% placeholders, just to test size and spacing. They're actually cut up slats from window blinds I had extras of lying around, haha.

Now that I know sizing is good I'll start finishing work on the bench supports so they look like concrete.

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

Hey, all, I had a few people mention to me the angle of the bench support being wrong, stating it is supposed to be 90 degrees. That is incorrect. As you can see from this image of the ACTUAL bench in the Savannah History Museum, where the original bench now resides, there is a slight angle, just as I have modeled. I just wanted to let you know I've gotten this as accurate as possible[emoji16].

Now, what I do notice from these images, is that I have modeled the seat support incorrectly. That will be fixed, don't worry!

Re: ORDER NOW! JNIX + IRIS + DOGGIEDOC Forrest Gump.

my congratulations DoggieDoc, you are doing a very scrupulous job.
I just wanted to consider some details of the suitcase, to make everything even better about the "screen accurate"

1) the most important things to fix (For my humble opinion) is the Net

the net have to be squared "shape", not a hexagonal "plot"

2) The upper hardware
dettaglio.jpg
is difficult to see it by the frame, but it does not seem to have a square shape, but slightly to an hourglass,
a little arched.
I think this component should be reviewed in the prototype

3) the height of the net
(the least important, just a little detail)

you can also notice looking at the racket, or the toothbrush, which perhaps should be kept a little higher. it is probably a little lower to allow the easy removal of objects, but I think some objects will never be removed once exposed, so for me it is better to respect the proportion :)

4) Regarding the shoes, you will all remember that a piece of the "mustache" (nike logo) is unglued from the shoe .. I actually like it too all glued, but anyway I wanted to put your attention on it :)

Hello and thank you for the compliments and input!

You are very correct, sir, the pocket is a tad lower than it is in the film. As you said this is to facilitate getting the items in and out of the pocket, since it is not actually very flexible. I will decide if it is doable and worth it to raise the height of the pocket for accuracy's sake, however I feel people should have options as to what to do with the accessories and so it may need to be a little lower so people can load and unload accessories as they please.

With regards to the netting material.... YES, I TOTALLY agree with you, it needs to be in a diamond shape. I thought of this the MOMENT I bought this material, however I could not find any diamond shaped netting at scale. However I will be hitting the fabric store before final production to see if I can find something more accurate.

With regards to the hardware. I appreciate the input there, and the screens are very helpful. That is a very easy change to make and I should be able to implement it easily for the final product.

with regards to the shoes. I had always noticed the torn and loose Nike symbol. The only issue is with casting copies of shoes. Firstly I would need to model the LACK of the Nike slash on to one side, then after casting, add a secondary, raised slash, as it would be too fragile for casting. Something I could look into but unlikely due to time.

And for those who may have noticed, my bench supports (the parts that are concrete in real life) were modeled with many inaccuracies. I simply wanted to mock up a quick pair of supports and get them printed so I could check dimensions, etc. I will absolutely be modifying the supports to be exactly screen accurate, so no worries! I think the dimensions are very good so now it's just a matter of making sure the actual structure reflects that seen in the film.
