This guy writes us last night, tells us he is going to paint and sell OUR casts (so he is now stealing them). And then has the nerve to say his conscious is clear to do so "before his god." :slap Dean's been customizing for 15 years and folks, this is about the last straw. If things don't work out for some reason with the new factory, this will likely be it for us with selling painted pieces. And perhaps doing customs at all. We may have to go to doing 100% commission work. It is not worth the toll it is taking on our family. Sad since it started out 15 years ago as a hobby he enjoyed and he has always enjoyed seeing how thrilled our customers are with their orders (even when we make mistakes). Now it's become a wrecking ball nightmare. We have lost so much time, money, sleep and peace. Either way, we will get your all's batman cowl kits done and in your hands. I'm really sorry that this happened and you all don't have your product in hand already.

Thanks for that update, Dean. I'm glad you shared with us all the bull**** you've
had to put up with this guy. What a shame...I guess you don't really know someone until
you have firsthand experience. Guy sounds like a weasel. Sounds like he was stalling for time
probably to make recasts, like you said. At the least, he's dishonest in trying to extort you
while having performed no work while threatening to destroy the cowls!

Hang in there, Dean! Sounds like you found a good solution to this and
fingers crossed things are smooth the rest of the way.
Again, thanks for sharing. It's good to know the character of these people and
what's been going on behind the scenes.

I really don't think he set out to scam me. He has delivered runs on the freaks boards before...

For reasons I still do not understand - he is saying it is my fault to not have scheduling arranged, PO's issued and so on. These requirements were NEVER laid out to me up front.

So while I don't think being scammed was a plan - I was misled and he was not forthcoming with information or in answering questions.

But the fact is - he has said flat-out he will finish these and sell them to recover his cost. That is theft. If he entered into a financial situation with a factory to get a paint sample then I should have been informed of this.

This whole thing was presented as him and his team painting these, then it turned into this.

I would also hate to see you stop all custom projects because of this . You have a reputation for excellent work. Maybe it's time to only provide unpainted kits . So many talented painters out there so many options . I do not think it will hurt your further projects .

I appreciate that - what I am trying and hopefully it will still work out - is to offer painted heads for just over the price of casts for a limited run.

Then, those who want to commission a painter can do so for a repaint and those who cannot afford to buy a cast and pay for a really good paint job or just don't want to go through the commission process can have a painted custom piece.

We shall see.

Dean, I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we'd be incredibly sad to see you go. I'd say in the future, stick to unpainted sculpts and never deal with this nonsense again. We all appreciate the time and effort you've put in and we know this will get done. I agree with Chad, report him to Mods.

I have to echo the sentiments above. Don't let a bad apple ruin the passion you have for this hobby. I will support your future endeavors/projects if you ONLY offer un-painted HS. Once a project hits too many hands, problems seem to arise--happens in MANY lines of work/ productions (especially projects where you have no oversight/ supervision)

Sounds like you're having the same issue SSCs always have. Send the factory masterpiece prototypes and we get the BS they send back....because that's ******** he's feeding us and you. He's not stealing from you as much as he's stealing from us!!! Please make him aware of this. Those sculpts are partially (or fully...can't remember it's been so long) paid for! I will make sure not to support ANY project he is attached to. He really needs to be exposed to the customizing community.

Really sorry to hear about this Dean! and the toll it has taken on both you and your family! I may have only met you once when I was a kid still in college but I have had a few correspondence with you in the past and could always tell you're a stand up guy. Really hope everything works out for not only for this project but all future projects and ideas you had in mind, not to mention hopefully a little piece of mind once it's this mess is all over with. It's never fun when a nice hobby/job becomes a chore and a nightmare. Best wishes to you and yours man! eace:

Hello All - News time.

Things are fast tracked to get these produced. The master is off to china this week and a paint sample is expected next week or the one after. When production starts I was told it will be less than a month to make them all.

I will post pics as soon as I get them here.

God willing the delays are finally over...
