Hey guys, just an update here...
so I contacted IxMAGICx1 and David was kind enough to sell me a yard of the fabric from the IDM project. Once I had it in hand however, it was too stiff to drape or buckle properly and so would look out of scale... which is too bad because the color and texture were pretty close to perfect (maybe a little dark and redder, but other than that, probably the best "off-the-shelf" material out there for this project....)
Also, regarding the IDM project, I just wanted everyone to know John was kind and helpful enough to contact me to send me the 3D printed cuff material he'd developed so that I would not have to start from scratch. Having it in hand was certainly a help, but I've decided to use a fabric ribbed material, as it is much easier to work with and less likely to tear or break in the future...
At any rate, I've had to develop a material for the burnt orange portions from a gray synthetic, and have also, working with my incredible designer/seamstress, found a way to handle the sleeves as well, even the collapsible ribbed part...
I think it's going to blow your minds when you see it, as this was the trickiest garment I've had to deal with in my customizing career...
