Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

I agree with wake, customs costumers, go for quality of the final piece first, than he looks who is the character. Hot toys costumers are the inverse IMO

Wake, put your efforts into convincing Denny and Trevor to do an Alex Delarge from that little ol' movie A Clockwork Orange. Let's see if that will work!

A) Lenny looks top notch so far.
B) Teddy should be made. Maybe in smaller numbers, but defiantly should be made. If there's a list throw me on it.
C) Hotel diorama sounds aces Wake.

You dont understand, for something thats NOT an inhouse project, smaller quantities is not much of a viable option as it really doesnt help on the keeping the prices lower bit. Something not logical for a secondary character.

Ankit let's wait and see what happens. I'm not goin to push either Denny or Trev to work on anything memento related until we get an idea do how well Lenny does. Having said that though by your argument there should've been more cowboy sets made available. Instead the run was kept small.

Watch the price on the Cowboy set too...

Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

You know what's funny... I was having a conversation with Trevor about Sideshow and Hot Toys and the strange choices they make (i.e. Mime Joker, etc.) and Trevor told me that Indiana Jones--yes THE indiana jones--was NOT a big seller. That sideshow had stopped focusing the attention on the line (EVEN THOUGH THEY ALREADY BOUGHT A BEAUTIFUL SHORTROUND SCULPT FROM TREV) becuase it frankly was moving units. We don't know the real numbers here. All the above is just speculation because if asked, 100 people out of 100 people would say Indiana Jones is a big seller.
Indiana Jones has historically never really succeeded as a collectible line no matter what the collectible. Strange, but true. Having said that, one of SSC's major issues was that, though the prototypes may have been great, their Indy production figures blew pretty bad. Jones was one of my first 1/6 scale figures, and I liked it enough at the time, but the paint apps on that head are atrocious, the body is as loose as a long neck goose, and the clothing and accessories are generally nothing to write home about. But on top of that, they produced more Indy figures than nearly any other Sideshow piece to date (barring some high profile Star Wars guys), and at those production numbers it was going to be a risk even if the finished product was amazing. The Raiders Indy PF was an amazing sculpt, but had sub-par paint apps and other QC issues that also held back sales.

I didn't catch up on all the talk yet but I think that Teddy would be an incredibly hard sell too.

Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

I think it depends how good were John Doe sells (because it is almost the same type of a character), and still Teddy would be quite more pricey.

What I think, is that Natalie would be more popular ;)

Apples and oranges... If John Doe had been sculpted by trevor and handled with the care this is receiving I would have CERTAINLY bought one and many others probably too.

Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

But do you really think it would double the amount of buyers? The sculpt will not be cheap, and all the outfit, so it will be pricey figure for a secondary character, that's my point. With Natalie is easier, cause some people would buy headsculpt for bashes, I'm sure.

Is it really worth Trevor doing a Teddy when he can be focusing his efforts on more crucial deserving characters?

It's not your choice or mine. LOL. He sculpts what he want to sculpt, mike! He does these side projects for interest moreso than to make a living. He's got a pretty good gig with sideshow.

I hear ya. But this is an Iminime collab project. Not his personal stuff. This is a business decision. More than just let me sculpt this head cause I dig Joey Pants.

Denny has to gauge enough interest to make Teddy a go, no?

I'm not saying I wouldn't get one, cause I probably would. But I think this a little too far outta left field for a figure choice.

Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

I think what Wake means, is that Trevor is making it for himself, in no relation to "yes" to Iminime release. So, there will be Teddy, just really limited :)

It may not happen. LOL. Just throwing it out there guys to gauge interest.

Re: IT'S OFFICIAL!!! [IMINIME + TREVOR GROVE!] A Memento to 'Remember Sammy Jankis'

Trevor does indeed do a lot of personal sculpts, and then the lucky ones get offered like breaking bad, and sadly some fall in the wrong hands of a licensor. Like Sherlock did with big chief. If Trevor didn't sell them exclusively I'm sure I would have two fantastic figures on my shelf.

I wish BCS lose that amazing license because they are out of their depth with it and then some customiser can take it up and do justice. I love Greggos work but really... I expect more of my fav characters being made into figures
