Since it seems that more guys will want spare shades, I've increased the number of spots on the shades list, but at least we already have 20 completed on that... and only 4 missing for the outfit.

Ok guys an update on the sword and shades:

I was talking to John(IDM) about the sword and shades regarding what is the best path to take in order to make it and we wanted a consensus on what people think.

Shades: I mentioned to him that if we can make the shades in metal as per some requests. He said that it would be difficult to make the shades in metal due to the size and the means in order to make them. Also, it would be difficult to make the shades sit on Morpheus' face due to the design of it and being metal it be a difficult task to keep them on as it will just slip off. So we agreed that going with a 3D print to screen accuracy, then casted in resin and nicely painted by John with a high gloss finish should do the trick and he can work around making it sit properly on Morpheus' face.

Sword: Now with the sword we got 2 options to go by. First option would be mononofu 1/6 sword customized with a 3D print of the handle and guard, painted and decorated but the sword will not be 100% screen accurate but the blade will be metal.
The second option would be a 100% screen accurate Dotanuki sword that Morpheus actually uses. In order to do this, the sword will be 3D printed, casted in resin and painted and decorated (blade, handle and guard in resin). So we get no metal blade but 100% accuracy.

So there you go folks, those are the options we got. So please voice your opinion and thoughts....thanks.

As far as the shades go that sounds fine now on the sword I really want the metal blade with the custom handle but that's just my thoughts I would like to here everyone else's opinion

Just elaborating some more on the subject, but I planned to do Neo and Matrix gang at some point so I researched a lot of their stuff. Even the real glasses worn by Fishburne in the film are just lenses that have a metal finish to them, not actual metal (otherwise you can't see obviously). So going the resin route with a metal finish is the way to go.

If we can buy some Mononofu swords and just customize the tsuba and handle, that would make things a lot easier, but you don't get the screen accurate blade. From what I have found so far, no one has an accurate long blade. There was a ninja set that some company released that was very close. If we're going for screen accuracy then a 3D printed and casted way is the best, but it will be brittle because it will still be in resin.

I think the Mononofu route is probably the best option at this point.

I can understand why you'd want metal shades....plastic is so thin and easy to break but metal doesn't seem realistic.....I would go with the blade synonymous with the movie....as long as it looks like real Japanese steel.

When it comes to blades metal always looks best you just can't get the shine with the resin I think the mononofu blades is the way to go they are very close to the original just a tad short with the handles made they would look great

Resin is definitely the only way to go for the shades. Aren't he screen used ones frameless? So the only metal part on them would be the bridge anyway.

Tough call on the sword. Real metal looks great and the hilt and hande would be accurate; so we'd be sacrificing the length at the end of the day. Hmmmmmm....
