FYI, just in case yr parcel was unluckily stuck/hold or even stolen by the Custom in yr country, I am unable to deal with it and I won't be responsible for this case. It is because I and the Hongkong post office are not feasible to contact yr Custom department.

Hi Mike

Pls mark the below information in the first page so that everything is more clear and avoid any disput in future :

Anyone asking for low declare vaule means that in case of any parcel loss, they are agree to bear in own risk and get such value of compensation. I won't be responsible for any other full compensation/replacement in such case

In case the parcel was unluckily stuck/hold or even stolen by the Custom in yr country, I am unable to deal with it and I won't be responsible for this case. It is because I and the Hongkong post office are not feasible to contact yr Custom department. If this is finally proved that this is belong to parcel loss, I will hv replacement to them (this is not appliable if they request low declare value )

Make sure you declare the value guys - even if you have to pay more!!! One day an item may get lost! Its not worth it!!!!!

Just to share my experience on why I wanted to declare the value of $10, and by all means I’m not encouraging anyone to do the same. It’s just that the people here are so corrupt, the more you declare the value means the goods is valuable and they will take the item. By ‘they’ I mean the Post Office employee or Custom employee, by the time they deliver it to me, I only received an empty box (happens to me couple times) :mad:, when you confront them with this they will blame on each other to no end plus all the bureaucracy that they have :gah:.

If, I declare the value very little, they will think that the item inside has no value, so they don’t bother to do anything to it. Even then, sometimes when you only declare the value of $10 they will still ask for bribe money for me to get my item out, they can have 1001 reasons for it; it is very messy here you won’t believe it :slap.

Post Office here has a very bad name, it’s just that when we receive items from overseas we don’t have any other choice; it has to go through them. For local parcel, I can say that 90% of the locals in my country choose to use the service provided by private company.
Sometimes depending on the item, if I think that I can’t get away with low value, I choose to send the item to the neighboring country (Singapore), because I have my cousin who stays there. I have no problem declaring the right value for the item shipped to Singapore, because they will not or at least very slim chance that they will do such thing.

yeah no way in hell i would want to declare an item valued at 300 and shipped to my italian address. Better to ship to my home in Miami then have it shipped to my US address here in Italy. :)

Where are you from? That's similar to what occurs to me in Brazil... but my problem here is not some postal office employee stealing the package. Our PO is actually good, to be honest. My problem is taxes: brazilian government charges 60% over the declared value plus shipping, so it's impossible to bring something in with the real value declared, unless you're a billionaire, which is certainly not our case...

Hi all

I need to clarify very clear at the very beginning now to avoid any argument in future.

This is because this is not fair to shift the full duty to me alone, that I am not allowed to protect myself for something ridiculous handling of the parcel outside my country. If anyone need to put low declare value so as to avoid paying high tax, this is alright but in this way I would never be able to buy any insurance or get any compensation from my post office in case of any parcel lost happened. So I hv to request for an agreement that they will bear their own risk in such case.

If such matter happened to the post office within my country, this is of course I need to be responsible for this because I am the citizen of my country. While I won't be responsible for the stealing behaviour / ridiculous handling of the post office/custom of other country. (For example , I am sorry that I won't send any parcel to Italy because parcel stealing is not uncommon. We need to make an agreement and find the best way of transportation. Armysoldier74b is so kind and we hv made the specially handling! I wish the parcel will reach his hand safety very soon)

If there is no feasible agreement to satisfy each other , I am sorry and it is OK that we should not hv any transaction , so as to avoid any undesirable matter in future, right?

This is ok and you are so nice for me that you argee to take yr own risk if parcel loss really happened to your country.

This is a very good idea and I had done the similar way as you for Armysoldier74b parcel. ^^

Kinda glad I live in Canada now...Our postal service may be expensive, but things don't get stolen or lost that easily.

@armysoldier74b
Wow, I didn't know Italy have the same problem as us.

@Queromarvel
I'm from Indonesia.

I agree with that seller can't be put responsible if anything happens outside their country. Once the tracking number is given that means seller's responsibility is complete. As a buyer we should know how the Postal in our country is handled and should weigh the risk and reward our self.
