Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Looks nice! Seems like the base is a little big too. Should be about even with the bottom of the urn.

Awesome. Just wanted to make sure you caught it. Figured you would have. :1-1:

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

I'm also on a big Dexter kick right now, my wife and I finally caught up on the DVR and watched the current season's finale today, LOVED it! Also right after Christmas, best buy had seasons 1/5 on blu ray, $19.99 each, so of course I snagged all, and want to start re-watching when I have time.

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

I thought season 7 was great. I enjoyed every episode and thought Isaak was phenomenal. I've been on a dexter kick too........ Lol

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Looking forward to see how this turns out. From the pics it's going to take hell lot of skills to paint it by hand. Getting decals to adhere and line up properly to the thing is also going to be a big challenge.

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Hey guys,

Just got a reply from the same people painting the slide boxes and they are willing to work on this project with painting the urns. The only caveat is that because of the 1/6 scale, the finished piece will be close, but may not be 100% accurate because there are many, many flowers at many sizes. Outside of buying a replica and sending it to Moscow, there is no way for them to see how the pattern wraps every curve. Me personally I am fine with it being close but I wanted opinions.

They are saying the price would be in the $60-$70 range. I will not have final kit prices until I see the new quote after I revise the model. Expect it to be in the slide box kit ballpark since it's 3 somewhat intricate, separate prints per unit.

So here is the point we are at.

1) I need to refine the model to get the scale issue corrected and have a new sample printed.

2) I would prefer to not have Max commit to a paint order of less than 5 pieces. At 5 or more the western union fees, shipping and return shipping fees are all shared and make this less painful on our pocketbooks.

3) Are folks going to want to see a painted sample prior?
I think I know the answer, but just know that having a one off proto ordered, shipped overseas, painted, shipped back, post photos, order more prints for SSF members, ship them, paint them, ship them back, then me ship to you is going to be a very, very long window of time.

So your opinions would be appreciated.
I just don't want to start down this road if there is not enough interest to get this going.

Thoughts?

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

So I'll start a "potentially" interested list right now.
I have had folks back out on both slide box runs, so please do not be asked to be added unless you are honestly interested. If I need a 5 slot minimum and 2 back out, then we start all over again.

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Put me down. I know Max will do an amazing job just by looking at my slide box. No need for me to see a sample.

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Here's both sides from my photobucket. They were all hand painted so the flowers did vary from urn to urn.

Re: 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

V-Raptor just PMed and made a suggestion that I really like.

1) Fill the minimum requirements for the order. 5+ orders.
2) Receive payment for kit + shipping in full to me.
3) I order all kits + 1 prototype and ship to Max
4) They paint the one proto, with the others in hand and I share photos.
5) People can (based on photos) decide if they want theirs painted or not. If so you get your kit and pay no additional money. If you want it painted, you PP me the paint fees and I send Max the western union payment.

Going this route all orders would get a kit essentially, with an option to paint it for the extra fee based on photos. What you would not be able to do is not agree on the photos and get a refund for the kit, you would then take your kit and have it painted elsewhere.

I think this works out well and saves a huge chunk of time.

I'll start the list off and start tweaking the model this weekend.

DP estimated that the lifesize is between 11-12" tall.
I nearly split the difference between the 2 and it looks like the final will be about 1.89" tall

I have tweaked the model and will be ordering one more one-off proto to make sure there are no scaling issues again.

Re: ('Interested List' Now Open) 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Yeah Chris, that estimate includes the base and lid. Just so we are clear.

Re: ('Interested List' Now Open) 1/6 Scale Trinity Urn (Miami)

Perfect, yeah the 1.8" measurement I talked about earlier is also the lid on top of the middle on top of the base.

I placed the order this afternoon, just 10 long days to wait now :)

Wish I remember the exact measurement.....
