I think the hat is looking fine, I like the texture and the color on it too. Are we putting a real ribbon onto it?

Yeah since there is not one sculpted on thats the only option I guess. Just gotta find the right color now

Now that we have established the hair.... lets talk about that incredible paint and sculpt! :thud:

The paint is out of this world Im glad Jake is on board! Awesome work man I've asked mike about the hat we'll see what he says...... Same discussion on the body Im listening to all thoughts this will be perfect!

Yeah nothing struck me about the hat at all, I think it looks good. The size is also a good fit.

Sorry guys. The hat is off to me. Not expecting it to be changed just for me if everyone else is happy but its off. Just being honest.

Don't need to apolgise buddy I welcome thoughts why go this far and go all out only to mess up...... I've looked at pics and the size looks good I think it's because we are use to seeing the hat at an angle do you have any pics to show the size buddy?

Joe, go ahead and post a photo of the actual hat on Wonka's head next to a photo of the sculpted hat. A side by side comparison is good to check it out. Personally, I think it looks good.

Re: Candyman & Friend! Monty productions! Sculpts by MG Updates on page 97

I didn't say it doesn't look good. I said its off. It's slightly too fat and I think looking at it more closely now, its the rim of the hat that is most off. I think that's what's throwing it off to me. It doesn't have the correct thickness and curvy shape.

It has the curve in the bill, these close up pics arent for the shape of hat but just tp show painted face. Because these are cell phone pics and its probably looking thicker in them.

Re: Candyman & Friend! Monty productions! Sculpts by MG Updates on page 97

Jake your first attempt at the hair was very close, really like the matted look of it, any chance you could try bringing a bit of the fluff down onto the painted sideburns? I think it needs to look a little messier around the ears, just having the sculpt looks too clean.

Re: Candyman & Friend! Monty productions! Sculpts by MG Updates on page 97

I think the bill of the hat on the sculpt comes to a thinner point around the edge. If you look at the pick again I posted above you can see that it has a softer more rounded edge and not thinned out as much. It's hard to explain what I mean so if no one else sees it, then I will stop mentioning it and move on. :)

I see it man! Now I get it, the brim needs to roll in on itself more. Your right lol hard to explain

Yeah I also agree.... It was really very close. With thinner hair I think I will be stunning. Even the V1 attempt I like way better than the rainman curly hair. I look forward to seeing the next pass. I really am liking this sculpt.

I think was joe buzz is talking about is how the brim of the hat kind of rolls / curls into itself?

Yeah for sure since I wasnt happy with the hair material I didnt paint match the sideburns to the hair color or add any hairs to it that would have to be pulled off later. I have some thinner camel color material coming in that I hope works. We will get it figured out soon.

Oh God thank you!! Yes you hit the nail on the head and see what I mean. I wasn't trying to be "that guy" and keep complaining or nitpicking but it really was bugging me that I couldn't get someone to see what I meant. :lol

Ha ha now its another matter of having the hat resculpted....I wish you noticed it when it was still being worked on though lol

Yeah I guess because it was still a WIP, I didn't think about it because..well It was a WIP and not yet the final version. I think also to be perfectly honest, I myself didn't really notice it until you showed it painted. Sometimes the paint job brings things more to light then when seeing it blank.

Re: Candyman & Friend! Monty productions! Sculpts by MG Updates on page 97

The lip of the sculpted hat looks like it has a slight curve to me in the photos . It just may not be as pronounced as it is on screen. The overall shape of it is pretty good looking. I also really like the texturing and the shade of brown Jake chose.

I think this photo shows what Joebizz is talking about.
