The hobby isn't the same no. Facebook did **** a lot of **** up yes. But you can't be that old guy refusing to get a cell phone man lol. Times change. I think that too many people who shouldn't have these things got a hold of them. Also the fact that yunsil is a household name now doesn't help. Too many guys coming in and being misinformed but a certain few (won't say names my opinion) This hobby is SO oversaturated now. Rocco interest threads make me wanna die. I FINALLY realized that at the end of the day most guys just like bashed toys and wanna save money. These guys aren't collecting with a passion. They're collecting to have toys and its evolved into a social theme. the artists saw the heavy resale prices and they did what any business minded person would do. They upped the run numbers and the prices. Now we're all bottom feeding and the ones who can't truly afford these figures or want to just flip them want to talk ****. I could go on and on but I've been drinking lol.

Yo man listen. I'm all about collecting whatever makes you feel happy. That's why we do this crazy ****. Lol. But I'm sick of getting jumped on all the time for being strong spoken on what makes ME happy. That's it. I see people bash guys like me ALL THE TIME calling them elitists blah blah blah. But the second I say I'm personally not a fan of kitbashing I get crucified. It's stupid. Same with hot toy collectors. Guys CONSTANTLY talk **** about the high custom prices and how guys who buy it and pay that much for a toy are all stupid ect. But the SECOND I fire back I'm the biggest piece of elitist **** there is. It's 100,000 vs 10. That's why other guys I talk to on a daily basis who feel EXACTLY like me (some even more intense believe it or not lol) don't say anything because it's not worth jumping into the fire. Dude, I hate the term elitist and I've fought with everyone who ever came into the custom section throwing that word around... but as an avid custom collector I have to say... everything you say really earns you that title!! I love customs as much as the next die hard in the section, but I never thought or spoke like you. EVER.

I just can't follow your mentality on multiple levels. "Yea FB f'd a lot up but get with the times and get on it"??? Why the **** would I want to perpetuate anything that I feel had a hand in the semi-ruination of something I care about?? It’s that more than anything else, but I do feel that a dedicated forum for collecting is a better medium for like-minded people than FB. Not to mention that it's better built for all the little things like posting pics (that you can actually expand and zoom in on!) and videos too.

And your whole outlook on what you call "bashes" is ridiculous and nonsensical. I'm not one for sourcing common bits from B and C level companies' figs to make a bash, but that's what fits some people's budget bro. Feel blessed that you can swing a higher end product instead of putting down those that can't. But I know we're not talking about that. You're talking about HIGH END CUSTOM "BASHES". Custom outfit, sculpt and accessories. How in the **** is that a cheap way out??? :lol By the time you’re done with the outfit, sculpt and paint, accessories, body, weathering/mods etc., etc... where do you think you're at?? $200??? No bro.. you're right in the realm of custom full set numbers, OR MORE. In all honesty, I can’t even consider what you hate on as kit-bashing. Kit-bashing is sourcing all bits, odds & ends from eBay and elsewhere on the market, and doing your own mods to build the fig. Unless you’re a master of the art like Seb and some rare others, I’m honestly not a personal fan of the usual end results because I look for a level of accuracy that the “close enough” stuff usually can’t produce. What you’re hating on is a completely different planet than that. It’s a high end custom collaboration rather than a bash, and I’ll argue that with all the best bits, you can end up with a better fig than what may come out of a set done by one artist (with a COA :joy)

BTW, don't you have a Madbug/Yunsil Myers build on a Banner body with HT Platoon boots and a knife made by whoever?? That must be different I guess :rolleyes2

I will agree with you on one thing though and that's the saturation and overlap. The hobby grew and while I think a lot of good has come from it (like the options we have available to us from more great painters, sculptors, accessories makers, tailors, etc.), I do think that some bad has come along with it. I won't speak on the bad because that's a whole other can of worms I don't feel like opening, but the growth of the hobby has definitely given birth to certain aspects that really rub me the wrong way. But all and all you have to appreciate the good that's come from it too. In a perfect world there would be better balance, but social media helped open the flood gates. Before it was closer to famine and now it's gluttonous feast. I wish there could be a comfortable middle ground but it's impossible.
